I think he only explicitly mentions it after Blaidd goes free later in the questline. I've no idea how you're supposed to even find out about it on your own. Personally, I think it's the biggest "how the fuck was I supposed to know that?!" in the entire game.

if you find evergaol you can choose not to free Blaidd and ask Iji about why he did it, which makes perfect sense, so i didnt free him. But game is still fuck you so it doesnt matter and he gets out without explanation.

Yeah I just put that bit in spoilers because I'd say the "Why" Blaidd is in jail seemed more important than finding him in there.

But honestly for Blaidds sub-quest specifically I don't know how you're supposed to figure out what to do. I loved fighting the Bloodhound Knight with him but if I hadn't looked up what his deal was when I found that ruin in the forest there was no way I would have had that experience.

I disagree hard here. You can complete entire game barely giving attention to the story and still get the entire experience of fighting a ton of fantasy monsters and demigods, Reine and Irys being two living examples of it in progress. Ranni questline and Volcano Manor are the only times you ever need to interact with the world in a non-violent way to get further in questlines and unlock actual content beyond a couple dialogues.

You CAN, but is that the intended experience? Is that how Miyazaki pictured people would play it? My point it's still important part of the experience, its stuff there to be appreciated, but its not presented well , and people shouldnt work for it.

While irys and reine dont have much attention span, they are fully capable of paying attention to a story or a game with bunch of dialogue. For ADHD people like them, so elementary game design features could even be considered accessibility features (for their disability).

Just cuz its playable, doesnt mean its good. If it was pretty much any western studio like cdpr, you'd be able to bind an individual key to every function. Why do i need to open menu to get to inventory, why can't i just press "I" . Every menu should have a hotkey you can buy, every quick item, every spell. Optionally, just to customize your experience.

Exactly, they just did bare minimum to port keybindings. Hardcorded keys for menus, for map.

And get this, your mouse is completely useless when you open a Map, you cant select anything with it, you cant place markers or pan with it. You can zoom with scroll wheel though, but that's literally the only thing you can do, its terrible.
