21752597 No.21752597 [Reply] [Original]

Personally debating if I should drop Holos if they all decide to start streaming on Twitch.
I'm not saying "Hurr durr, Twitch sux because chat/Twitch thots/culture sux", but from personal experience my ISP can't handle Twitch and whenever I try to watch any Twitch streams, the whole stream is laggy and just have an over-all bad watching experience. Also had some experiences wherein I can't watch streams because the only quality option is 1080p HD or higher.

So tell me, is Twitch really that good and should just I bite the bullet and upgrade/change my ISP to watch Holo streams or just drop them entirely

>> No.21752664

Well, I had always had issues with Twitch but I changed ISP and it's fine now, so I get what you're saying.
My main issue with the site is not technical anymore, but with the so-called "twitch culture". I'll admit the actual streaming environment is actually well-done.

Quality options are only guaranteed for partners. Everyone else just has to get lucky, basically. Miko got partner so presumably being in hololive might fast track that process. Meanwhile, twitch has really shitty draconian perm-ban system and can perm-ban a streamer without needing to state a reason. I don't expect holo would do such controversy stuffs to get banned from twitch but who knows.

Typically yes, but the partnership contract is individually negotiated. If you are media/celebrity tier or have a big company to go to negotiate for you, then you can get partner without exclusivity. Sounds like Cover knew what they were doing.
To be clear:
Affiliate = anything live on Twitch is exclusive to Twitch for 24h, but you can stream elsewhere when not streaming on Twitch
Typical Partner = all live content is exclusive to Twitch for 24h and you cannot stream elsewhere
Negotiated Partner = anything goes

Twitch will never take off for corporate tubers in its current form. This is because Twitch's fatal flaw, from a business perspective, is the lack of targeted advertising. (You know the stuff Facebook was losing its shit over Apple blocking?). Instead Twitch basically takes the "fire off ads at random and hope they stick" method. Such blind ads are far less valuable, which is why is bad for everyone:
>This is why Twitch takes 50% instead of 30%. Because they make less revenue per ad. So it's worse for the streamers. And corporations who fund them.
>This is why Twitch forces streamers to have ads every hour. Because they make less revenue per ad, so have to run more of them. So it's worse for the viewer.
>This is why Twitch has to pioneer "gamifying" stream viewing with hype trains, cheering (paid message highlighting), bits, collectable emotes, etc. To make up for the lower revenues they make from advertising by creating alternative forms of income.

None of the things YouTube offers put any real requirements on the creator. Since they have so many million-sub channels Cover probably has an actual partner manager but other than that I doubt they have any obligations to YouTube. There are a handful of streamers (single digits) who signed exclusive deals with YouTube Gaming but HL isn't among them.

Twitch streaming will make it easier for all of the niggers in livestreamfails to clip and try to farm the chuubas. This will inevitably trigger all the schizos who live there. It might be reddit but most of that place is filled to the brim with /v/, /vg/ and discord trannies who have a perma boner for drama. Kinda like this place, but at least its contained within 4chan. If a drama gets big in livestreamfails it has a really high chance of making it to the frontpage and making things even worse. Imagine a JP holo saying nigga and reaching that front page. It would get whoever said it in big trouble thanks to the all the average people are now aware of the clip. To all of this you add the fact that twitch streamers are globalist neo-liberals who always try to latch onto new trends for a little bit of exposure. JP wouldn't do it but EN hoes would definitely collab with xqc and all the other cancerous niggers on there.

People are missing the main point of this, especially the timing of all this happening.
Youtube immediately age restricts all of their summer swimsuit debuts, however with Twitch, they're allowed to finally show all of their swimsuits, after 2 years of no swimsuit debuts, we're finally going to have a great summer once again.
This is a good enough reason to have them all make a twitch account, if only to stream content that automatically gets slapped by youtube.

It'll never work like this. Twitch is fine with 3dpd in hot-tubs and pool streams but 2D gets moderated hard. Saruei actually went viral long before she became a chuuba because she was getting banned for drawing ecchi, not hentai, just lewd, art on stream. Asian streamers also get banned for things like showing cleavage because it's handled by the asian branch of twitch which have different standards.

Youtube chat is what Twitch chat was 10 years ago, its taking almost the exact same evolutionary path that Twitch went through. First everyone spams essays then they realize its pointless when 10k people are doing it so they start just typing short sentences or "lol" soon they realise they can quickly get their message across in a single picture. Emotes genuinely allow 10k people to interact with a single person efficiently. The only people who dislike them are those that have no idea how it works or boomers.

That's just a shitty streamer anon. I only get 2 ads in a single stream if the streamer decided to earn some ad money and presses the button to put on an ad. Anyway the quality on Twitch is A LOT better than youtube's encoding. You can see it from a couple of games like Apex/any other graphically intensive game. Open up someone's Apex stream vod on youtube and compare it to his/her Twitch Vod of Apex and you'll see a pretty big difference in quality.
