I've been waiting for this! Hey guys, I know it's been a long time coming, but I promised you a Shadow story and here it is. I took a few liberties, I hope you don't mind. It went kind of long, so I plan to break it up into two separate stories. Anyway, here's my archive.

Lost in the woods. That’s what has become of you. You have no idea how you’ve even gotten here. The red-orange rays of the setting sun have given way to oppressive darkness, and you wander, tripping over tree roots and stumbling amongst snatching branches. Dry leaves crunch beneath your bare feet as you make your way in your sleepwear to god knows where. You can hardly see. The last thing you can remember is falling asleep to a VOD of your favorite streamer, comfortable in your own bed. You swallow, trying to contain your panic as you desperately look for a way out, but nothing is forthcoming. You may have to spend the night in this strange forest, an unnatural silence heavy on your shoulders. A cold sweat trickles icily down your neck as a nagging fear encroaches on you. There’s no telling what kinds of dangerous animals are out there, lurking in the blackness.

You flounder around for what seems like hours, exhausted. For a while now, you’ve felt some kind of eerie, uncomfortable presence, the kind of weird foreboding sensation that you imagine children in fables feel before encountering the big bad wolf. Without warning you hear a childish, female giggle, startlingly close to your ear. The sudden sweet sound shatters the silence, startling you. You feel hot breath on your neck. You throw yourself away from it, backing up against a wide tree trunk. No one is there. Silence has returned to the forest. You feel your heart racing in your chest, but force yourself to calm down. Could it have just been a figment of your imagination? Looking over your shoulder, you see a light. Encouraged, you gather yourself and make your way toward the possibility of civilization.

You come to a clearing, like something out of a fairy tale. Indistinct purple lights dance about, casting the area in an ethereal but entirely welcoming glow. In this center of this oasis in the forest, a small dwelling stands. A small but inviting brown brick house, topped in red shingles. Leafy creepers climb lazily up one of the shaded walls. Wispy gray smoke slithers from a chimney, so you assume someone must be home. You walk a stone-lined dirt path, approaching the front door. You pass beyond a white picket fence, past a well-tended garden of fragrant flowers and vegetables, climbing creaking wooden steps to find yourself on the front porch. Lit by the flickering warmth of an old fashioned oil lamp mounted aside the doorframe, you hesitantly grip the brass knocker and give three gentle raps.

“One second!” you hear a childish, girly voice reply from beyond the door. You step back, not wanting to impose, swallowing nervously. You’re not used to talking to strangers, especially a girl.

Without so much as a lock turning, you hear the brass knob working and slowly the door creaks open, revealing something you did not expect to see. A young girl stands before you, looking up at you quizzically with large violet eyes. Her shoulder length hair is a deep purple, decorated in red ribbons. A pale lavender shawl covers her delicate shoulders. You feel as if you should recognize this person, but before your brain can reach a conclusion, the thought turns to haze as if it never were. The girl smiles at you, a momentary glint of ruby within the plum pools of her eyes. She reaches out to take your hands in her own small, warm fingers. You think nothing of it.

“A visitor! It’s been so long!” the little girl continues excitedly. “Come in, please,” she says, adding your name. She pulls your arms gently but firmly, posessively. You don’t question it, going along with her, nodding and entering. You walk into the girl’s home, noticing the scent of burning incense along with a sweet, girly smell surrounding her. She stands aside and shuts the door as you pass. She closes it with a determined amount of force, the sound of locks turning and the sliding of a chain give hints of your fate. “You must be tired, would you like some coffee? I already have some brewing!” she says eagerly. Nodding, you realize how thirsty you are. She again takes your hand and ushers you into a quaint dining room beside a cozy kitchen. Taking a seat in a high-backed chair, you relax against velvety crimson cushions after the ordeal in the forest. Nearly as soon as she left, the little girl reappears, placing a porcelain cup on the polished wooden table in front of you. She sits right next to you, almost uncomfortably close, her shoulders barely clearing the table as she sits down. She sips her coffee, looking comically small within the frame of the towering chair.

“I’m Shadow,” she says sideways, looking up to you and introducing herself with a sweet smile of pale pink glossy lips. “I hope you didn’t have too much trouble in my forest,” she says. “Here, cookies. Please!” Her dainty fingers gesture to the center of the table. Sure enough, a plate of cookies lies there. Were they always sitting there? Perhaps you hadn’t noticed.

You sip your coffee. It’s good. Really good. The warmth of hot liquid spreads through you, a welcoming feeling after the chill of the elements. You take a cute chocolate chip cookie from the dish and bite into it. It’s superb. She’s entwined her small, thin arm with yours. She’s so warm. You introduce yourself, that nagging feeling of recognition for her continually flying away from you just before you realize it. Shadow makes small talk with you pleasantly, a happy smile on her lips. It never occurs to you to ask where her parents are or why she lives out here in the middle of nowhere. You only enjoy delicious coffee with this cute girl. Your thoughts about home, your own world, start to disappear. You could do this forever. You welcome it.

Shadow smiles again, this time a bit mischievously. “I’m hungry,” she complains, a bratty tinge coming into her childish voice. “I’ve been hungry for a long while,” she continues, “and I can’t take it anymore.” Her small mouth twists into a creepy smile. “That’s why I’ve called you here. I’ve been watching you. I know you.” Her eyes glow that eerie scarlet, but you pay it no mind. You’re too far gone at this point. She has you. “Feed me, oniichan!” she says, suddenly hopping out of her chair and standing before you. She closes her eyes, lips parting, leaning forward, blushing slightly. You place your half-eaten cookie into her mouth and she crunches it, chewing, licking her lips free of crumbs and chocolate suggestively. “Oniichan,” she whispers, “that’s not what I meant.” She smirks.

She leans forward on her tiptoes, caressing your head in small hands. “I like you. I need your life force… I want it.. give it to me, ” she whispers seductively, directly in your ear. The last relatively small vtuber thrust into the spotlight by Cooksie, called Fillian, doubled her Twitch subscribers, quintupled her Youtube subs in the first month. And began flashing a lot more panty shots during her streams (pantyshot clips being her reason for being clipped).

The one prior to that who was boosted by Cooksie, YaGurlShelly, also changed a lot in response to a huge influx of viewers; despite being an English-only channel run by an Austrian, her viewership became 40% Brazilian (according to an informal poll she did one stream) and she started speaking/learning a lot of Portuguese, I suspect in an attempt to retain those viewers.

So given the last two, I doubt we'll see someone as neurotic as Shando be a rock of consistency in turbulent times. She strikes me as being especially easily influenced by her chat.

Honestly I think it would actually be worse if Shadow didn't change whatsoever once she grows. She hasn't really changed at all since she was streaming to 100-150 average last year aside from general improvements as a streamer aka becoming more comfortable and high energy. She's trying really hard though, you can tell she really wanted to impress everyone when Nina dropped that huge raid. I really can't see her ever becoming a lewdtuber as she just doesn't strike me as that type of person, she doesn't seem to chase clout (she could stream ASMR every day like Ikumi does and average 1k+, instead she just does it whenever she actually wants to) but I could see her getting frustrated and or overwhelmed by it. I think that's wishful thinking, Anon. It seems like half the thread I see about Sondo discuss how neurotic she is. I find it unlikely she's not going to change significantly due to the influx of a new type of audience. Plus she seems to have hints of a certain vanity or perhaps even mild narcissism (as per her kazillion Skebs), so I can see her changing her behavior to pander to the new audience and gain their approval. And that's to say nothing of the natural human behavior to want more money and fame.

That's not to say it's absolutely certain she will change, but I think we both know someone that unstable is far more likely to be influenced by a new audience than not.

I think that recent "opportunity" she talked about, regardless of what it was, makes it quite clear Shadow isn't the type to do something she doesn't want to for clout and success. The only changes I can see Shadow taking in the future are just natural ones that come with growing as a streamer and growing an audience.
