because the story would end. the crux of romance manga is to see who the mc going to end up with, so the author does everything in their power to drag the climax of the manga which the "confession" scene, at the same time trying to make it obscure who the mc going to end up with usually by introducing new rival or introducing new plot point that make the mc doubt himself, the author does that as if it's not already obvious who the mc going to end up with, which is why i personally hate romance story. also if people just want to see sex there's hentai for that.

This line of logic seems completely retarded. Even soap operas with their convoluted plot lines and romantic dodecaedrons don't beat around the bush this bad when it comes down to presenting an opportunity to reward the audience with the acknowledgement that characters do like each other and end up having sex, which is a normal occurrence for couples even in conservative Japan. This just means that authors are trash at writing actual romance or that the audience itself is not interested in romance at all. The only possible exception to this is romance that is targeted at minors if the law prohibits such, but you can always just not show and just tell.

You don't even need to go that far. There's titles with actual stories that do have sex scenes in them that aren't aren't central to the story and serve mostly as fluff to the main plot itself. I guess that's one of the reasons why I hold trashy 18+ harems in higher regards than I do most romantic comedies out there, but I guess them not beating around the bush feels more interesting to me as a western man.
