If it was only the amount of buys, then some coins, mainly Mori, would be overbought non-stop.
Personally, I think that the key is that a coin can just rise in price without being overbought, or it can be 'overbought' if its price exceeds what it 'should' be. Thus, it wouldn't be based just on the amounts of buys butt he real price increase - meaning that it would also account for volume (as lower volume coins have higher transactional volatility).
This would imply that the game has some way to determine what the price of a coin 'should' be, and if it's below, it adjusts up normally... but if the coin's price would be higher than what it 'should' be, then it 'trends' towards that lower price. It doesn't 'set' it on it, but rather just goes towards it partially.

This is, of course, speculation on my part, based off what the devs were saying and what I tested several months ago. It might no longer be true, or be true at all, but it works decently well in explaining the market movements.

I don't know how much I should share about it, as not only have I not finished digging out the information, but I've also haven't made up my mind on it and what it means.
There is reason for me to believe that every coin has an individual volatility value, a value that can be changed manually by the dev through API calls to a volatilityMultiplier.
Now, where I think this comes into play is in the adjustment, adjustments have 4 different parameters that can be changed:
>overbought (boolean, so True or False)
>oversold (boolean, same as above)
>bogrationLevel (string)
>upwardsReductionLevel (string)
Both bogration and upwards reduction accept values from in the ]0,1[ interval.
I personally believe that after a coin has been bought enough times overbought triggers, then based on however many views/subs the coin is going to get tomorrow and the amount of buys past overbought the level of upwardsReduction begins to change, it would explain why some coins that should clearly be overbought still go up or crab, furthermore, there are 3 behaviors for coins at adjustment:
>Default
>Do not Adjust
>Return to Base
Return to base implies that there exists a price (averages!?) that the market considers the base price for the coins.
So with all of this in mind, I believe that even if there may be a general formula for volatility this is not consistent across the all the coins, mainly due to the volatilityMultiplier, which might be set manually by the devs or come from yet another formula based on Volume, furthermore this plays into adjustment when deciding if the coin is overbought and what kind of upwardReductionLevel to use, lastly, as there exists a Return to Base behavior it could also be triggered once overbought kicks in and decides to pull a coin down.

The issue here is that those values stem from the Dev control panel and thus give us a glimpse over the switches that the Devs use to influence the market. This might mean that 'Oversold' and 'Overbought' True/False just concerns whether those mechanics are on or not. This is some grade-A forbidden knowledge, but since it is out, I might as well discuss it a bit.

I believe that every coin is set to 'Default' adjustment behavior except for Civia which is set to 'Do not Adjust'. You are correct that 'Return to Base' is one of the reasons why I believe that there is an inherent, fundamentally views/subs based 'Base' price of a coin towards which Overbought/Oversold trends towards.

That being said, I believe that adjustments are based off the closing price, and NOT inherent base price. It was revealed to me in a dream, and do not take it for granted, nor will I tell my reasoning for it not to discuss the adjustment formula.

The general formula for volatility is the same for every coin, I assume, but there is a multiplier to it that is set on a coin-by-coin basis by the Devs - this is what this knowledge tells us especially since volatilityMultiplier can range from 0.0 to 2.0.

Nabi is a hiatuscoin at the moment. She hasn't streamed for a very long time, so there isn't much price variation on adjustments. As such, she does adjust, but her price is driven up by players buying her.

I was doing some work with dividends data and found something interesting, for the past 4 months or so, the average dividend per coin is in a range from $980 to $1,010, furthermore, the sum of total dividends is in a range from $57k to $62k (excluding 2 data points, more on that next).

This leads me to believe that the dividends are taken from a fixed pool of money rather than be "generated" each week, a conclusion which is further supported by the dividend data from JP6's debut. The week before dividends encountered a rise, new total was $65k and dividend per coins was $1150 (highest in the data I have), likewise, the week that JP6 IPO happened dividends suffered a crash, total of $46k and $840 per coin.

The previous is likely a result of the devs changing the total dividend pool after JP6 announcement but not having the IPO out in time so every coin got a bump in divs, or, there were some dividends before the first stream meaning they would've given pretty much no divs, on the same line of reasoning, the low dividends happened when streams already happened, so they were "stealing" weekly views (which seems to be the most important metric for dividends) from the pool and caused a dive since they did not pay that week.

On an unrelated note, at the start of January, the total closing price (TCP) was at around $878k, meaning you could spend that amount of money per cycle, today, the TCP is at around $1M. So in 1 month and 3 weeks the market has "grown" by around $120k, interesting isn't it? No wonder dividends ROI% keep getting worse, the prices keep going up! Where do you think those $120k have gone to? It's obviously not spread across all coins equally, I'm partial to HOLO$ although you already knew that hehe , GURA$ and AQUA$ these coins feel like they've done nothing but go up ever since the adjustment cap was removed.

>What does this all mean
Well, the first part about dividends may be useful to keep in mind when making plays and thinking about strategies! Knowing that there is a cap to them should make planning for the long term easier.
The note about the market is just something intriguing that I found, if Google didn't lie to me, and the inflation formula is as easy as it says, you could say that the market has had an inflation rate of 13.8% !! Is that good? Is that bad? Honestly I don't know, I don't have experience in this topic and frankly I do not know why I am trying to work with numbers deep into a Saturday night alone... , but if I find anything that makes sense I promise to share it!

Take notes, people. This is why you do historical data analysis. This also allowed me to correctly predict this behavior since I noticed it pre-HoloX debut - a green week and then a crash of non-HoloX coins dividends that gradually recovered.
Indeed, there is a dividend 'cap' in the form of a total pool of money, although it seems to vary a bit with a two-digit standard deviation, likely as a result of rounding/code-to-nasfaq-numbers interactions. This type of noise can be seen throughout the market and is the reason why I think Civia doesn't adjust - I used to think that it adjusts by an insignificant amount. In order to fully test it, she'd need a subtick to see if she goes up or not.
Either way, this is the reason ROI% goes down - coin prices inflate, dividends stay the same... ish. Due to the way this attribution works, channels that grow in comparison to their peers will actually get an increased slice of the pie.

Looking at last couple of adjustments is useless, volatility has been upped lately and due to multicoin update, overbought kicks in more often. Compare it to adjustments around that time, it's a mini-Susan. Moreover, it didn't corelate with daily views.
If you remove additional outliers which are Aqua/Kronii moons, you'd get -5.056%. The point is, outside of a few moons, the market adjusted red overall. There is a solution to this, but now I realize that you cannot solve this using BBB's data alone.

I won't spoil the reasoning for this, it's a bit of an exotic event and it's unlikely to happen a lot. Anyone who has a more complete database of parameters from that time could attempt to see it.
