Hi /lig/ archive anon from /VSJ+/ here i actualy wanted to post this in here earlier but i was too tired to actualy do it earlier but since not all Indie vtubers have an vod archive i thought i might as well put this in here if someone here wants to archive vods of their vtubers or want to make sure vods wont be lost incase they get deleted:

For those that dont know about it basicly every twitch vod has an m3u8 link and if you have that link you can acess vods even after they were deleted (thats how i grabbed some deleted nyanners vods in the past for my archive) you can get them opening developer tools on chrome (press f12) and then search for m3u8 in the network tab.You need to grab the m3u8 link from the recent broadcast tab vod (basicly works if the vod have been up for a minute or probably even less) becouse the m3u8 you can get from the stream is usualy dead from my expirience so you need to get it for the vod.

TLDR: check out the two videos below on how to get and use the m3u8 so you can acess the vod even after its gets "deleted":

How to watch/Download the Vod using the M3U8 Link using vlc media player: https://files.catbox.moe/49ujpr.mp4

If you want to download the vod from YT DL works the best for that from my expirience just open a cmd window and open yt dl (after you installed it of course) and input " youtube dl https://test.insert_the_m3u8_link_here.example.m3u8 " and yt dl should download the Vod.


I tested this if you get the M3U8 link before the stream ended at any point after the stream started from the recent broadcast vod you can still acess the vod even if it got deleted with the same link if you got it before the vod got deleted/the stream ended (the link will work for 60 days so as long as the vod is on the twitch servers).

Twitch recover used to be able to recover m3u8 even after the vod was deleted but after an update in arround September/october 2021 that sadly doesent work anymore for some reason which is why i made that video on how to get it while the stream is still ongoing.

Oh ok from what i tested it usualy gets a dead m3u8 link which is why i even made the video on how to get it as it while the stream is still running to make sure streams can be accessed without having to run streamlink 24/7 with the auto record option as i usualy turn my pc off when i sleep.

Usualy twitch recover crashes for me when i try to get the m3u8 link through the twitchtracker link and the other method gets a dead m3u8.
