There's no need for that and likely won't be for the near future. This thread has no problem hitting bump limit consistently even through consecutive storms like we've been getting over the last month. We also seem to have people here at all hours of the day, so we don't have a window of vulnerability where the thread can get swept away. The only reason there would be for a merge would be pity on another thread that would likely be included in the sphere of Towa's friends. For now we're doing fine on our own.
