"Real Emo" only consists of the dc Emotional Hardcore scene and the late 90's Screamo scene. What is known by "Midwest Emo" is nothing but Alternative Rock with questionable real emo influence. When people try to argue that bands like My Chemical Romance are not real emo, while saying that Sunny Day Real Estate is, I can't help not to cringe because they are just as fake emo as My Chemical Romance (plus the pretentiousness). Real emo sounds ENERGETIC, POWERFUL and somewhat HATEFUL. Fake emo is weak, self pity and a failed attempt to direct energy and emotion into music. Some examples of REAL EMO are Pg 99, Rites of Spring, Cap n Jazz (the only real emo band from the midwest scene) and Loma Prieta. Some examples of FAKE EMO are American Football, My Chemical Romance and Mineral EMO BELONGS TO HARDCORE NOT TO INDIE, POP PUNK, ALT ROCK OR ANY OTHER MAINSTREAM GENRE

I'm 34. You're being dramatic, life as an adult isn't so bad. Or rather, it is in some ways, but being a teenager or a kid is in many ways worse. The key is to set reasonable expectations and accept that life isn't perfect.
And love is definitely possible, you just have to accept that real people are complicated, just like yourself. Having hopeless dreams about what could have been 20 years ago won't make you any happier, and those dreams are mostly delusions anyway. Teenage romance isn't all sugar and spice and everything nice.

emo is definitely a genre, but "emo"/scene as a subculture includes all sorts of things, from emo to pop punk, post-hardcore, metalcore, et fucking cetera, all of these things are related to the scene in some way and usually its in some connection to punk/hardcore. some "emo kids" did listen to rap rock, nu metal, alt rock or whatever but that doesnt make those bands part of the culture, theyre "guilty by association" at best. they existed without any influence from emo music or subculture and would have continued to do so and be popular if emo had never become a thing

Again, you're talking about sceneboys. An emo dude is just someone who prefers wearing casual dark clothing like a black hoodie/jacket and listen to alt-rock/post-hardcore/pop punk emo songs. "Rebels" aren't cold blooded criminals who picks fights with everyone, at least where I'm from. They're just people who sprays graffiti everywhere and don't give a shit about what you say, or really anyone's. Often they skipped classes to just skate around or do whatever.

Not sure if based or incredible sad
In a related way here in the UK we had a subculture called Max Power that built extremely outlandish custom cars in the late 90s/early 2000s. Like a shitty peugeot hatchback with a completely custom steel bodysheel, BMW headlamps, S15 tail lamps, candy red paint, 20" wheels, hydraulics/air ride. You know the style. At car shows they were usually flanked by booth babes in bikinis or those single piece race suits that shows off boobs and butt.
ANYWAY - there's been a bit of a max power revival in the last year or so, a lot of the old crew bringing their cars out of storage, getting the models back, some are even doing new builds on newer cars. The problem is these are now fat 40 something men messing around with cars, not 20 something madmen, and the girls aren't 19yo glamour models, they're 40yo mothers of 3 and it's just not the same. Rather than creating something new it's just larping for something that was lost to time.
Emo revival is a bit of the same, except a lot of people never stopped being emo and the new wave is actually kids and not fat old men, but I reckon a show like that will be a split down the middle between sad middle aged men Like me and teen girls. I'd feel like Hideo Kojima.

The emos had this style that was somewhat in-between goth and scene where it just made them look like normies really. The design in OP pic >>17783368 is one example
Goth was too exaggeratingly black and scene was too flashy and outlandish, emo is like halfway between the two

>> No.17833614

>>17832514
What are you even talking about. The whole Japanese rock music scene started out at around the same time as Emo music exploded in the western scene. The difference is that the western scene let it die out or changed into some poppy garbage, while Japanese rock (even certain J-pop) evolved to retain or even improve it and incorporate it with their own styles. The west didn't have anime to keep it alive.

Nah. Even a simple search on Youtube could easily prove your 10-year theory wrong. If anything, they were closer to the pop-punk emo scene 10 years ago, than today.

J-Rock music scene circa 2008:

Meanwhile, you never get this kind of music in the western scene (anymore). Or at least they're unpopular, unlike in Japan.
