I love sana and I know people can get very close to childhood pets so I don't begrudge her taking some time off to visit her family and grieve(especially in aus where travel has been really hard with lockdowns) but a month long break is fucking ridiculous. I work a customer facing job and i wouldn't take that much time off for a direct relative.
In fact now that I think about it, it's quite possible she travelled across state and had to quarantine for two weeks at one point (or possibly even twice) and didn't have her pc with her/hotel had shit internet to stream.

Aussie here, when she went on break, the travel restrictions were state dependent, but most had you isolating in a hotel room for at least a week (2 weeks normally) if you travelled across state lines (especially if you went into NSW or Vic). I was leaning towards her being from Perth, but they were super hard to get in/out of (still are).

I loved my grandmother a lot too, she was actively raising me during my early childhood before my mother got her shit together.
But the thing is, when your grandma is already sick and very old, you already know its gonna happen, and you're already prepared for it and also you kind of want her to stop suffering and rest too.
So when she passed away, I didn't grieve for longer than a week either, even though she helped raise me until I was 6 and was always present through my growth.
But still 1 month for a dog is absurd, dogs are cool but they're not people, your bond with them isn't nearly as strong.

No, it was a big deal and we have the numbers to back that statement. She is the lowest Hololive girl on subs out of all branches, the lowest live watchers on EN and JP, even getting mogged by Ollie and Moona in their best days.
The break was in the most important time for her as a streamer because it was when she was getting the most exposure because of the debut and cutting all of that was a huge damage and she didn't have a twitter game or "best of" compilation videos like Miko had in her hiatus so she was in the collective mind while gone.
If I have to compare it to someone, is like Mel getting into hiatus at the moment Hololive went viral on the west but she had to step out as there was the legal problem with the manager.
tl;dr: the hiatus hurt her in the short term and made her getting lost in the shuffle.
