Like many others have already said here, there is no cull, it's a new feature for YT to detect spam. Holobronies have been coping hard about it for 2 weeks now after being exposed for viewbotting. They can stop pretending they dominate the corporate VTubing world again because Nijisanji is back where it belongs; on top.

I don't think you're quite understanding it though. The cull is necessary because Cover are still viewbotting their streams and it shows up on the VOD, but the built in feature is to purposely detect bots and it's why numbers and interest in Hololive has substantially declined throughout the months dating back to early 2021 or so. The true numbers nosedived after Coco's graduation and you could see the decline in roughly 90% of the talents. At the rate they're growing or rather lack of it thereof, they face a very dark road in terms of CCV and average CCV. Otherwise expect multiple graduations during the year due to Cover's draconian policy that certain Holos need to be paid entirely on CCV, the sole reason why they're in for it in the first place.

You're talking as if Hololive are the only ones affected. They're not. People who aren't in Hololive have addressed this issue, and more and more people are starting to speak up. Vtubers seem to be primarily targeted, but non-vtubers have also been affected. You also have no actual proof of Cover viewbotting besides "because I said so" or you'd have provided said proof.
