I had an epiphany.

The only way to make vtubers not suck is the groom them as gamers, and the only way to groom them as gamers is to once again become a gamer. Neither their fans nor their managers, if any, can be trusted to guide them on the path of gaming glory. That much is the truth.

My bad advice to people who are currently gamers is to have your general make like mihoyo and find a vtuber to adopt. If they can't be trusted not to make shitty content on their own, then they must be groomed as a gamer until they're not complete ass as a streamer. This is the only way to save them. Sometimes you just have to roll up your sleeves and take on a project.

That's not to say they couldn't be spruced up if Yagoo personally showed up on my doorstep with a job offer and an open invitation to do as I wished with Gawr Gura, because lord knows it'd take quite a bit of soap, shibari and candlewax (all purchased with a company expense account, of course) to get her to stop thirsting after the Nijihomos on stream in front of the chumpedos while trying to drag her collab partners into the bit. I like small collabs, 2-3 people. They can have a proper conversation and, even if it's their first time together, they can overcome awkwardness for the most part after half an hour.

I explicitly complained about the PROPORTION of collabs vs solo streams. Not only that, but if you are capable of reading for 30 seconds, you would see in the thread that the specific example I have is Pomu, who quite literally collabs for 70+ percent of her streams. But the same complaint goes for all vtubers, who generally do collabs between 30 and 50 percent of the time. Any percentage above zero is too much for that insufferable assgarbage.

There are always superchats etc if the regular chats are truly incomprehensible. But that rarely happens, even with the biggest vtubers, for a few reasons. Foremost, even when there are dozens of chats per second, many of them are bound to be saying the same thing, like pointing out diamond in minecraft or whatever else, typically relevant to what the vtuber is doing at that moment. In fact, this chat cohesion is so reliable that many vtubers refer to "chat" as if it is the name of a single person, a single entity, saying "Hi chat" or even doing a stream that is a "date with chat" etc

The lack of viewer interaction is merely one of the many reasons collabs are shitty, tedious, unentertaining garbage for everyone involved. Collabs are bad for live viewers for that reason. Collabs are bad for vod watchers and for the involved tubers because they are awkward, clunky, often suffer from mic delay and people talking over each other, and often forced, sometimes literally forced by the vtuber agency in question.

I am a vod watcher myself and watching a vtuber do something she actually enjoys on her own and interact with her chat is infinitely better than watching her pretend to have fun with a coworker.
