The bigger story here is that all the streamers, vtubers, indie news services etc. are moving to other, newer platforms because 'web 2.0' dinosaurs like Twitter and Youtube have become draconian tools to censor, control and prevent me from looking at anime titties. It's interesting to watch these giants, so fragile, work so hard to destroy their marketshare as competitors rise to gobble them up. More amusing is that they're funded by the government, at least partially, so it indicates that no amount of funding can stop sheer incompetence.

It's the other way around. On youtube, the AI shit will get you some kind of a small audience no matter how inept you are at marketing yourself. On twitch you have to network with the other streamers or do off site marketing to get anywhere.

So you want to join twitch once you already have either social ties to other twitch streamers or have a small loyal audience on some other platform to come with you. Keep in mind also that Twitch is a very small website so you may still need to continue getting audience from off site even once you've established yourself.

With Bits (the Twitch donation currency) the streamer gets all of the donation, Twitch takes their cut from the viewer when they buy them. Most streamers have a third party donation system set up as well, so you have to deal with Paypal but otherwise you're free from Twitch's influence. Twitch does take 50% of sub income initially, but streamers are able to decrease that percentage the more they grow.

I dont think thats the case. I believed it was true too, but after half a year it seems to not be relevant. I wouldnt even begin to imagine where to look at a vtuber category on youtube. But the recommendation algorythm youre referring to, twitch has that too and its just as effective, countless times after a 2view stream theres recommendations on the left on twitch, which are surprisingly accurate to the content one consumes. Plus raid system just adds an extra chance of someone giving you exposure. I witnessed my 2 view get same number of randoms joining on youtube and on twitch, with no exposure. Theres really no difference. I think twitch is just a head, youtube has that kizuna standard which some vtubers are living in.

Twitch literally cannot be as effective no matter how good the algorithms are (and as far as I know they are bad) because it has literally like 1% of the user base of youtube. There just aren't enough people around to discover you. Keep in mind that twitch also has a lot of streamers as well, so many in fact that there just aren't enough watchers to go around if all of them were to be even slightly above 2 views.
The numbers are out there so you can check them yourself if you don't believe me. There are obviously success stories on twitch, but these are not the norm. For every successful streamer there are plenty of ones who never get off the ground. That's also true on youtube to some extent, but it's not as severe there because the user base is just ridiculously large.
