I'm not sure if it's laziness or the fact that a content ID like system would be prohibitively expensive for twitch. ContentID only It works on YT because it's profitable enough for the record/media companies. That's because youtube has good ad revenue because with prerecorded videos you can target ads well. Meanwhile twitch makes a lot less from ads. They are going to force the streamers to handle DMCA issues for as long as they can because it's the much cheaper for twitch to let streamers occasionally get dicked in the ass than dealing with the rights holders.

Not FAANG, but probably only a step or two below it. No one has taken a look at this until Tuesday at the earliest so that gives us at most 4 days of dev time. A change this catastrophic should be hard reset, so solving the problem should just be a matter of isolating the commit that caused it and reverting the bot flag for all the accounts categorized as a bot after that commit was pushed. That's optimistically like a day or two of work assuming their database system is good enough to make that easy to do.
Once someone finds the offending commit(s), the verification process can still take several days. Need to wait for someone to review it and get it past the automatic verification processes which depending on the company can take several hours to a couple of days assuming nothing goes wrong. Large database changes will probably also require approval from someone high up enough that it can take several days.

This is the ideal case. If they decide it's lower priority than whatever other bullshit they're doing, then work hasn't even begun yet. If the devs are retarded and decide to try to fix the issue without reverting it first, you'll have to wait longer for someone to figure out exactly why the offending change isn't working the way it's supposed to and how to fix it instead of just finding the change to revert. If their database system sucks, reverting the affected accounts can be very difficult or outright impossible. Sometimes the autoverification system fucks up and gates a perfectly fine change so you have to run it again adding on more hours/days.
Earliest I would have expected to see a fix from a competent company was yesterday. But they were retarded enough to let this go through in the first place so don't be surprised if this takes several more weeks before it's fixed, if it's fixed at all. They still haven't fixed the "Started streaming X minutes ago" text not updating for several months despite it probably being a one line fix.

True, but I think this is even easier to fix. Simplest solution would be to turn off the process and revert the database changes from Christmas-ish. Ideally there would be a way to revert the state of the bots to a certain state but I don't know enough about ML to know if that's possible.

Gura has the potential to become one of the top streamers on twitch. The big two obstacles for her to get there would be 1. networking with other twitch people which I really doubt she would want to do and 2. streaming long hours which is really important for growth on twitch (for big streamers). That's a huge reason against Holos moving to twitch, these girls get by easily with low and inconsistent streaming hours on YT, but it doesn't work like that on twitch. This is all hypothetical of course because a hololive move to twitch is obviously incredibly unlikely.
