That's normal here in Russia. Though you don't go to uni, you go to "college" as in a technical college that gives you a profession like electrician, cook, carpenter, mechanic etc. of course there are "modern" ones in IT sphere too.

Typically people there learn 1-2 years and then laze off 3-4 years before either entering related Uni on a shortened program and no entry exams or go straight to work.

Extrapolating to ZonBko, you might be in education but get away with lazing off all day if you're averagely smart.

The upside is people can afk on the stream. The downside is that you are going to have a higher bounce rate.
Another upside is that it's easier for the streamer to just switch scenes than having to setup a new stream.

Will she get to 10k by the end of March? At the rate she's going, at the earliest, it would be early or mid April. Also, with endurance streams, it's best to set reasonable goals that can be hit. She started this on March 5th and only recently crossed the 7k mark but gets about over 50+ live viewers a stream, right? The subscribers gain from this aren't going to be actual watchers of her content. The vast amount will likely be pity subs. I would rather have people that subbed to me be actual watchers than numerical value of my youtube power level but hey, that could just be me. I don't think it's just that. Market is saturated and it's not the matter of game you're playing but the memetic power of vtuber charm points.
Like Pekora's laugh for example, you need some shit that hooks attention on viewers. That makes vtuber clippable and helps with spread.

Doing short vids people can easily share on twitter also helps a ton, spiffing brit did a video about it and other methods how to break YT algorithm. There's no sin in abusing big corpo it's not like they would be able to take viewers and subs away.

TL;DR: vtuber popularity is a) having a catchable charm point b) leveraging everything you can to spread your name far and wide

If you don't have a) then b) won't amount to anything people would just pass over. If you have a) and don't do b) you'll remain obscure.

"Creatifity" per se is a meme: none of the popular VTubers are really doing anything massively unique. Sure they have small gimmicks here and there like specific type of ASMR or discord circlejerk or viwer submission music playlists but that's not what gives you BIG BREAK.

Kinda disagree that creativity is a meme. Haachama got a huge sub/viewer boost from her horror arc that was stifled by Cover. Being unique, even if what you're doing isn't like exceptionally creative, as long as it stands out among your peers, is massively beneficial.

Sure, someone like Akira isn't really a huge vtuber because her ryona gimmick isn't appealing to a large segment of the population, but the fact it's unique enough that she's known as "the ryona vtuber" is helpful for staying relevant and being memorable. Once you reach that point of being "memorable" all it takes is one big viral moment to break into the mainstream and suddenly tons of "passive fans" will activate into "active fans" and start actually watching your streams.

You don't have to come up with things no one else is doing, you just have to find something that makes you appealing to a specific niche of people and embrace it, then branch out over time to gain mass appeal once you're established. Trying to be a jack of all trades or generic vtuber won't work unless you're a natural entertainer like Pekora.

You're better off as a 50k chuuba with a loyal following than a 100k or 1mil chuuba with tons of dead subs. Someone like Kuzuha who is completely uninspired and still gets massively popular takes a pretty unique personality and a lot of luck. Better to rely on your natural talents than relying on luck.
