1. twitch is a smaller platform in japan. i.e. less chance for new japanese viewers
2. twitch is a worse platform for mobile devices, a large portion of japanese viewers watch on mobile
3. twitch is a dog shit platform for vods, vods are say what you want good for discoverability and income on youtube.
4. if signing a contract (can't remember if it's partner or affiliate) you cannot stream on other platforms. This is a small negative though, since Hololive are unlikely to sign such a deal.
5. Karaoke might be even more fucked on twitch then on youtube since their dmca system is harsh to say the least due to the music apocalypse that happened in 2020.

Some of these points are less important for EN, but some do still apply. I would say it's even more detrimental to ID due to mobile watchers being even more common there.

Should they still swap? Maybe, but it's not such a clear cut "just go to twitch" as you might think.

Ironically, if the allegations that "spamming chat" is correct, then anybody that has a concert with enabled emotes is literally just a "superspreader" event for getting accounts deregistered. Alright, I think the cull can be traced closely to relay streams pretty convincingly. Here's a few pieces of evidence.

1) Mio's Christmas relay
We all seemed to think that the event could be traced to something around the 24th of December. Well, Mio's Christmas relay happened then. It features the exact kind of conditions that causes bot classification (emote spam, constant moving to seemingly unrelated other videos/streams, etc.). We all know that HoloJP got hit hard, but not everybody seems to be hit. Here were the members that didn't participate in the relay:
Sora, AZKi, Choco, Okayu, Korone, Marine, Lamy, La+ and Iroha.
We also have the following pieces of evidence: Marine was able to host a 30k+ stream on Jan 1st since she hasn't streamed much. Okayu has been less impacted by the cull than most other holos. Korone's part of the Mikorone collab had much higher CCV than Miko's part (who did participate in the relay). But the most interesting person in this is Iroha.

2) Iroha didn't participate in the Christmas relay and her following streams took a little hit from her Median but weren't bad at all. As you can see she was still hitting 10k+ in a bunch of things, notably a Minecraft stream. But then Iroha made a mistake by participating in the Holox New Costume Relay. Her presence in the costume relay looked fine, but afterwards her CCVs tanked significantly, with Minecraft getting culled to 7k and then 3k after the relay.

3) Gura
Gura didn't participate in the JP relay but she participated in the EN one. And her CCVs dropped precipitously after the New Year relay.

This all seems to point at relay streams as being the main direct cause for Youtube to start mass labelling people as bots. And then these "bots" spread out to other parts of the vtuber and gaming worlds, poisoning everyone else slowly.

I didn't want to mention this but now that you talk about it VOD numbers right after the stream ends felt really weird to me even before the culls. This applies to every streamer in Youtube.
Let's say for a 1 hour X ccv stream with a really stable ccv number, it implied that a large amount of people (maybe 3-4 times X) opened the stream and then left without barely moving the ccv number.
Also the fact that 2,3,4 hours streams get proporcionally 2,3,4 times the VOD views is weird. If you count them as unique viewers is weird as fuck. In my mind people don't get more interested on a stream just because it's larger in duration. Would this mean that if Youtube allowed archived streams of 24 hours would they get twice the number of views as a 12 hour stream. If it's unique viewers there has to be a limit, not everyone in the world watches Y streamer.
Therefore it has to count single viewers multiple times depending on how long they're watching. And that means that Y streamer audience has to be smaller that anyone thinks in the first place.

One other point I will bring up, Pekora.
Pekora participated in the Christmas relay, but her numbers still seem strong. That's primarily because she literally filtered all the typical holo boxpushers through some ingenious moves. First, by disappearing on Christmas Eve, she caused a shitload of dramaposting and chased away unicorn types that would otherwise be perfectly willing to box push. Second, by playing fucking Undertale, she chased away a lot of the potential bot-tagged viewers as the only ones desperate enough to watch would be loyal nousagi who typically do not overlap. When she did do some collabs, it was with Marine and Okayu, two of the people who didn't participate in the rally and thus wouldn't have been hit. Lastly, Pekora had the best position in the relay as the one immediately before her was Matsuri and the one after her was Koyori, who were some of the worst performers in the relay, thus causing the least "spillover" of users hopping between her stream and other streams.

Relay wasn't the start of the cull, but it was the event that greatly accelerated the cull for those who participated. The cull happened earlier, but was barely noticeable, relay is the reason why Holos specifically got hit harder and faster than anyone else.
