Indonesian is part of the Austronesian language family and is totally unrelated to Chinese, English, and Dutch. It is related to other Austronesian languages like Tagalog, Maori, and Hawaiian. That being said, it does have loan words from Chinese, English, and Dutch (but even more from Arabic and Sanskrit).

Loan words are not unique to Indonesian. The language we're speaking in is a West Germanic language that got gangraped by the French and the Norse and borrows from countless other languages. That being said, the Austronesian language is very far removed from Indo-European languages, much less form a Germanic language like English or a Romance language like French, so it would sound very alien to English-speakers.

But it is also very different grammatically from Chinese or from Southeast Asian languages like Thai, Khmer, or Vietnamese. For one thing, it doesn't have tones. It also isn't made up of monosyllabic root words. Austronesian languages really only resemble each other (Indonesian/Malay, Tagalog, Javanese, Ilocano). So, they're pretty alien to most of the world. But at least they're not as ugly as tonal, consonant-cluster languages like Thai.

That being said, most of the languages in the video aren't Indonesian. They're different regional languages. The closest is the language being sung in Kicir Kicir, which is from Jakarta, where they traditionally speak Betawi Malay. (Bahasa Indonesia is a register of Riau-Johor Malay).

And A LOT of these people don't have access to schooling, which is, again, why Bahasa Indonesia was designed to as simple as it possibly can be to the point anyone from children to adults can learn to speak it just from interaction alone

That's the point of English. It's a middle ground to connect with everyone *and* doubles as a trade language to the outside world, including other south east asian countries. I don't know which language is harder to pronounce intelligibly, but it's harder to pronounce English like a native than French. French only has about 36 unique phonemes, while English has 44. German is comparable to English at about 40 to 43 phonemes.
