Vubers are just a gimmick, there's no difference between watching them or your average streamer, all you get is some boring girl, with a character that has 3 to 5 expressions, because nobody really does anything interesting with the concept.

think about it.

Marine is a pirate, Ina is a squid and Gura is a shark. you would think they would came up with a interesting backstory about how Ina and Gura are sworn enemies because their parents have bias against each other, so they refuse to collab unless they are in a group, they would eventually grow a bond, but still kind of feel weird on each other's presence. Since Marine is a pirate, she could be a hunter of dangerous sea creatures and Ina and Gura could team up to defeat her? something like that?

Because something like that is artificial and fake. Yea, so are the models. However, the models act more like costumes. A back story like that is facsimile with no realistic background. They would have to act it out.

It's a lot easier letting the girls pretty much act like themselves. Back stories do not have longevity and get stale very quickly. Natural behavior is much more evolutionary and adaptive.

Gura having done a watchalong of her debut stream is a fine example. Just after 6 months, Gura is clearly a bit different, than when she started.
