You can't have hype around cookie cutter male V-idols while every female V-idol one is being unique in their own style/model design & mannerism/behavior. It just doesn't work when everyone is the same & designed the same.
Currently Male Vtuber design has like 1 body type and skin tone, not to mention the personality behind the character's behavior/streaming is just like NFT art levels of boring.

Clearly if a company wanted to pop off with male vtubers they'd need a well rounded know-how of Weeb character tropes but gender bend them.
If they created unique designs that fit the trope while matching people's/tallents personality to said tropes the best they can it would be a similar level of success.
