This is false. It's a lot more complicated than that, it's not discord or the hate for it that causes problem but rather the way the community gets stratified.
Option A: There is heavy gatekeeping on who gets to be in the "inner circle" and everyone else just gets access to some basic channels, lots of people are going to feel left out when they find out the "inner circle" even exists and they aren't part of it.
Option B: The server is completely public without gatekeeping and everyone gets to join. Then it gets overrun with retards while people who are made mods to keep the retards in check are seen as someone getting special treatment.

Either way you lose and there's really no middle ground. You can't run a discord server being a solo moderator unless you literally have like 10 people in it.
