For newfriends and fa/tg/uys: this is a Chronicles of Darkness (CofD) homebrew being played by the fabulous ladies of Hololive English, running under the Hunter: the Vigil module. As most of the players are new to the world of tabletop RPGs, this campaign is being played as more of learning experience, with fun and entertainment the primary goals.

Her experience in TTRPGs is limited to a small amount of DnD played as a child. Her character is Tiara, a nobly born foreigner with a talent for handguns and communicating with birbs, particularly her pet owl, Uhu.

I get that. It's not a complaint either. WoD tries to market itself as more on the gritty horror side (or at least it did for a while), and Calli is really trying to go for spooky (I'd say she did pretty well during the tutorial sessions).

I wish the Prisoner's Dilemna was a bit spicier than it ended up being.

When you design a Prisoner's Dilemna, it's supposed to be balanced like this:
1. Trust/Trust: 2nd best option for the individual, best option overall
2. Trust/Betray: Best option for the Betrayer, Worst option for the Trustee.
3. Betray/Betray: 2nd worst option for the individuals, worst option overall

What's really important is that choosing to Betray should never result in the worst possible outcome for the betrayer, even if both players choose Betray—BUT, both choosing Betray should be worse overall than either or both of them choosing Trust, and both choosing Trust should be unsatisfying for the individual, but best overall.

So the problem in this session was that the penalty for Betraying was too severe (none of the characters hate their allies enough to be willing to sacrifice them for even enormous amounts of money), AND that if they both choose Betray, then it offers no benefit over having chosen Trust.

So I think a more interesting matrix might have been something like this:

1. Trust/Trust: Both let go, consolation of $10,000 each
2. Trust/Betray: Betrayer is given $1Mil, Trustee taken hostage to be executed later
3. Betray/Betray: Both get nothing, maybe also kicked in the shins
Just a proposal, it would probably have to be iterated on a bit, or maybe the downsides tweaked to play more directly to the motivations of the individual players. These aren't easy to setup!

Well it's following the rules for a start. Attribute distribution is now the correct amounts, and generally more sensical as a character. Skill distribution has been tweaked to better reflect the concept. Merits have been totally changed to stick to the concept better, rather than the sheet that was statted out. The Amalgam form was added to reflect some of the fan art. Generally it's just more in line with the concept, and generally how someone might create a PC when they understand the nuts and bolts a bit better. The broad strokes are that you underwent a science experiment, willingly or not, and you came out broken and changed but with incredible powers. You rebelled and now the Conspiracy that made you is hunting you down, and they've got their own Deviants to send after you who are loyal to them. The more a Deviant shows off their overt powers the easier time a Conspiracy has tracking them down, but that might be what a Renegade wants. DtR is a game of revenge and an infinite web of connections between yourself, the Conspiracy, and everything else they've touched. Renegades want to burn it all down and there is always more to burn. It also deals with the isolation that comes from being unable to truly relate to humanity anymore, the horrors of your body twisting and warping against your will, and the costs of power.

There X/Y-splats are Origin and Clade, the former representing the broad circumstances that lead to their Divergence, the latter being the power source. The 5 Origins are the Autourgics who wanted 100% to go through whatever they went through to be Remade. Epimorphs agreed to be Remade but for a reason separate to the process itself, either to pursue a secondary goal or they were promised something in return that made it worth it. Exomorphs didn't want to go through it all all, often kidnapped, threatened, or worse. The Genotypals become Remade because of a factor of their ancestry, blood line curse, recessive genes from past experiments. Finally, Pathologicals were made by total happenstance, they stumbled into the whole thing. Each of these is mostly about how you relate to the world, and change some mechanics to reflect it.

As for the 5 Clades, you've got Cephalists (psychics), Chimerics (human/X hybrids), Coactives (infused with an energy of some kind), Invasives (cyborgs, magical or mechanical), and Mutants (mutants). Your Clade gives some unique mechanical benefits called Adaptations, but is largely about the aesthetics of your powers.

The powers cover a huge range of things. Energy manipulation, shrinking, flight, attacks of all sorts, illusions, memory theft, super human skills, immortality, metamorphosis, etc. A huge variety of stuff, with a lot of ways to customise them further. They're not free though and each power has to be attached to a Scar. These can be things like needing a charge up time, involuntary activation, the loss of limbs, self damage, emotional stunting, etc. The more powerful your ability the more severe the scar has to be, but you can basically mix and match freely. Amazing power system on top of a really great engine

Don't mention it. I think DtR would probably let the girls do all the weird stuff they sort of envisioned. Like you could really make Watoto a "goblin". It wouldn't be particularly challenging either. Scars like Conspicuous Appearance covers most of it, that makes them really obviously weird and hard to not notice. Things like Bane would let you give them weaknesses to iron, and Silence impairs communication and at 1 or 2 Mag that would be ideal. You could even do weird mushroom powers too. Kiara can go all in on the bird shit if she wanted, even go so far as having a bird with Variations itself. Ina could do an awful lot of stuff with tentacles, and could even require the book to do some of it. Or they could make basically anything. Basically any sort of corporeal supernatural is doable, expies for superheroes and anime characters, weird gothic horror characters. There is a lot of room to make stuff in DtR. It'd make for a really great campaign, except the girls would never learn it so it doesn't matter. DtR is actually simpler to run overall than any of the other supernatural splats too, it strips down a fair few things. The hardest bit really is just working out how Variations and Scars work, once that's down and you're playing it's pretty smooth sailing.

Myth never really had a designated leader, which is honestly one of the factors in their success. Other gens have tried to push a foremost girl in some way, and it has always backfired. Oldest ads / art clearly showed some leanings toward Kiara or Calli being the face of the gen, but that was before Gura came along and smashed everyone with the power of cunny.

All of Myth's characters have some leader-like duties they've taken up on their own initiate:
-Calli. Comes off as more motherly to the girls and is the head of sound / music. The reason all song productions have been handled by her is due to her background

Honest opinion, it crested with the banquet episode. They've avoided major scuffs since, but IRL interferences have been taking their toll on them. The DM running on fumes, Bang energy and probably some heroin shots doesn't help. If they had a good 5-8 hours to sit there and play it nice and slow, the quality and pacing would be phenomenally better. This really is an experiment for the girls, it's not expected if interest wanes or they wrap up earlier than planned. I just hope it doesn't discourage Calli from giving it another go at some point, she clearly enjoys TTRPG on a personal level.

If we were grading each session individually I'd have to agree. 3.5 hours is ideal for 1-on-1 TT sessions. Having all of them together demands a 4 hour session AT LEAST (which again, is why the banquet has been the best one). I think Ina has more business savvy than she lets on in character, and is probably more involved in leadership on that side of things. It just happens much more backstage than the other things you listed so we don't really see it and the girls don't ever really talk about it. When we brainstormed the circus episode, Calli said it would be much later in the series after the Hunters were more established. Then she proceeds to jump the Gura and have it be the second mission. That was a blunder on her part. In the end the circus arc wasn't BAD, but they were doing a good job of sticking to WoD's gritty horror. The circus arc went full Scooby Doo; I was half expecting the gang to run from the Hook and have him run across an oil-slick and do some looney tunes-tier slipping to make their escape.
