Personally I'm excited to learn more about new members, watching older members is comfy because you know what you're getting, you already know plenty of their background and habits, the investment is already there, but there's something fun about going through a learning arc again with new members. I can see why some people wouldn't want to put the effort though, you really need to watch a lot of the new members for them to start "comparing" to the older ones, and without that newcomer buff staying on the comfort zone is simply less work. Just don't forget that everybody is a human being with potential to be as interesting as anybody that came before.

I like the experience. I only started watching chuubas in January, so it took me a while to learn about the holos and the sort of people they were. It was fun. I spent time watching clips, going on Reddit (I know. I was just eating up any chuuba content at all, I swear), and most importantly, coming here (and JP). I learnt about inside jokes and the rrats surrounding most Holos, got into Holofightz, found my Oshi, and got really familiar with Hololive throughout 2021.

So when NijiEn and Council came out, it was a pretty novel experience. Unlike the people I’d been watching for 5-8 months, who I’d become familiar with, or at least knew about secondhand, these were complete strangers. It was interesting to find the appeal for myself, and come to my own judgements regarding the fresh faces.

I used to be subbed to every holomember, and spent all day going from holo stream to holo stream from the moment I awoke to the moment I went to sleep.

until I stepped outside the holobubble, I watched one single decent vtuber outside of hololive and nijisanji. as a direct result of this I created a twitch account to explore more anglophere vtubers. I soon unsubbed from every holo except for a few which I will now name: Akirose, Watame, Nene, Reine, Fubuki, and Suisei.

I haven't watched a holo stream in months, including from those members I just listed.
I still watch vtubers daily, all but 1 of them are indies on twitch.

I'm getting disillusioned with vtubing. Graduations, vtubers turning into numberfags, vtubers getting nervous about new debuts stealing the spotlight, vtubers worried about their members leaving them, vtubers annoyed at having to do corporation mandated things.
You may think I am talking about Hololive and Nijisanji but I'm not as I don't follow those companies closely, these are all concerning 2views. Vtubers are the first time I've come across dozens upon dozens of small companies managing tiny little streamers, as I've been watching streaming since before vtubers were even a thing. It's starting to feel depressing instead of "holy shit anime streamers". The ones who want to try hard are getting stamped down by their bosses or canned if they don't perform well, or wondering what did they do wrong when the sudden boost of viewers/subs wanes and they're back to usual or even worse.
