A confluence of factors. Several very dedicated schizos started regularly shitting up the general, (One of which we have a confirmed identity on because he "apologized" to her in private when he was desperately trying to get re-accepted into certain circles, but when it didn't work went right back to what he was doing) around the same time streams had slowed down due to apparent IRL sickness issues, and a Discord had been created the month prior. All those things combined led a lot of the regulars to start using the Discord more often to escape the schizoposting and still interact with other troopas, which brings us to now where the threads can only really be sustained when streams are live or about to be live

The reality is that /vt/ is a dead promotion tool after a certain point, and this idea that you can get popular on /vt/ and "make it" has never, ever, ever been seen in practice over the past year. Kiki, Bea, Pippa, any english speaking chuuba who has gotten popular on the board has seen diminishing returns over time on that community, only being able to boost them into the low 100s for the most part. I hypothesize that this is due to an inherent bias most corporate chuuba viewers have towards the idea of watching indies or smaller companies, they are both numberfag + brand obsessed and wont give anything outside of "LARGE NUMBER AND TOP 3 COMPANY" even a second look, and they make up a majority of the boards posters. The pool of possible viewers for indies on the board is probably hard capped at several hundred, max 500~
All cases of an indie chuuba I have seen truly climbing out of that start-gap is due to two things: Networking with other creators and good viral content on platforms like Twitter and YouTube. This can be clips or viral tweets. /vt/ can be a launching pad, but trying to rely on /vt/ as an indie is like designing a rocket to go to space, but only putting the initial booster rocket on your craft. Without the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rocket to help you break the atmosphere, your just going to crash back into the ocean because you hitched your chances to something that never had the power to get you all the way up in the first place even on a good day
