All the merch is just default_pose.jpg. Do people really buy merch like this? What is the point of wasting paper making this kind of merch when everyone with sense is going to wait for merch that actually has some dynamic looking art? Nobody is going to think "Oh man, I really want to buy a picture of them doing the default pose. That'll look so cool a year from now."

I am with you anon that they are cheap and lame but people do buy them.

I think it's because this was at NYC. Dakimakura covers or oppai mousepads are frowned upon in the US. They'd be selling other stuff if the convention was somewhere else.

I'd love to know what the numbers ended up being on those JackBox shirts because I have a suspicion it ended up eclipsing all or most of the EN merch available at the time. I don't understand if it's a JP cultural thing when it comes to planned scarcity or if Cover just hates money but their merchandising game is scuffed at least when it comes to the western market.

It's holo forte, even in collab merch they tend to just use screenshot of hologra while other vtuber use an actual original art or something like in vtuber chips

The convention is the one paying the merch. So they do less than the bare minimun. In JP the collaborations merch are pretty good

1. Brand, Cover can get away with a ton of bullshit because they're the number one.

2. Japanese companies using outdated business models. They have artists that can draw up merch but they have business plan to make use of them. They never needed to before why change now?
