How come such fewer people watch smaller corpos? Is the difference in quality really THAT much? Or is it more about advertisement/promotion/numberfagging?

I watch some of them, and they don't seem low quality to me.

>> No.13339550

You can say the same thing for literally any unpopular thing that exists in the same medium as popular things
>why don't people watch/eat/read//listen to/consume x when it's better than y despite being unpopular?
You will never get an insightful response that you haven't heard already

Youtube does fucking nothing to promote streamers
If you dont follow the EN/jp vtuber tags you will never find them and most of them either stop bothering with those tags once they get some following, use their name as the tag which makes even less people find them or try to bandwagon on games that just come out and pray they get picked up there
There are vtubers out there that you can only find if the youtube algorhythm throws it to you on your home page

Some of it is a self-fulfilling prophecy.
If they are good, some people don't want to get attached to their personality and content only to have them leave them hanging a year later because the numbers aren't panning out for them or a much better opportunity comes along in their life that makes them think it isn't worth it to continue streaming.
If they are bad, people don't want to watch them.
The longer they stream and the more they've shown that they'll stick with it even if they earn nearly nothing or have a small viewerbase - demonstrating stability and real interest in doing it for it's own sake - the more people will stick with them.

98% of vtuber fans only know Holo, Niji and Vshoujo and the vast majority of those only watch Holo. Exposure on youtube isn't the best. With NijiEN they at least had a name, these startups are starting with even less.

not that much, but small differences can mean the difference between retaining viewership and being forgotten. theres only so much time.
like just from kawaiipro i think nene just destroys all the others, she is just a level better in her delivery which reflects in her being at least 2x sub count to genmates
its really a sea of vtubers out there now and its hard to break bigger corporate resource backing because they have narrative continuity as well as established community in both fans and chuubas

>Difference in quality
The vast majority of the Holos people watch now were 2 views in their past life. They then joined Hololive and suddenly their numbers jumped so high a few had imposter syndrome from the contrast. Quality does play a factor in how many eyes you have on you but nowadays it's far from the most vital factor.

At this point Holo/Niji have so many vtubers that if you watch them there is no time left to looking for good indies.

the idea of participating in a larger project is a quality on its own. the big draw i think for corpos at this stage in the market is their established community. anyone can be a new vtuber and stream, but having friends and history is something you cant just produce, it takes time.
the brand is the quality, when you watch your holo oshi by extension you get all her friends and senpais

My oshi is from a smaller company called Projek Hikayat, but to be honest she should be in a bigger company.
I think her company is burning her out and is black.
She'll be fine one day and then one the following will happen:
1. She will say she has a meeting
2. Projek Hikayat post a meme where she's being laughed at on twitter
3. Her only kouhai will do more to leech off of her

And she'll say she spent the day sleeping and seem off.
She's also stopped talking about the company or her kouhai so I think they may be being bad to her behind the scenes.

I think people who could be bigger get debuffed by their companies.

A common rrat on her discord is she was a holo finalist who got disheartened and went for a company she believed in instead of auditioning for Nijisanji or VShoujo.

Her company like to clip her in a way that make her out to be really dirty, when she has said on streams she doesn't like vulgar things but has no filter. It's a shame, and I wonder how she feels behind the scenes. Especially after their new debut leeches so badly off of her.

manika is duros new "gen mate" even though projek hikayat said duro was generation 0 and there was only one of her
manika even said she didn't have to respect duro because she's the new talent in her debut

theres actually drama with this and not a rrat
there was a call before with her and manika on duro's server because duro wanted to talk to her fans and build on minecraft with them. manika came in and wouldn't let duro talk and kept talking over her until duro sounded like she was about to cry.
she's such a stupid bitch, duro would try to talk to us and manika would cut her off and start trying to derail to talk about her upcoming content.

Corporations offer...
>advertising to gain exposure
>networking to acquire sponsorships, tie ins, partnerships and collaborations
>a greater budget that can be used to increase the production values of streams, increasing their artistic quality and outcompeting independent chubas at presentation

In a sea of talents that are all relatively similar, marketing, networking and production values become the main differentiator. The only other path is being spectacular, innovative, or just really good at pandering to the algorithm and lowest common denominator in order to amass a bunch of normalfags fans who'll shill the chuba on social media.

Saturated markets are hard to break into, especially by directly competing with large already established players. Specialized niches are more risky, but much easier to secure a fanbase in if the chuba has a genuine interest in the field. It's basically a choice between trying to build a resume for and network your way into Hololive while praying to get in, or actually earning success by doing one type of content really well and building a dedicated viewerbase around that.

As a rule of thumb, variety content gimps 2views who should instead be focusing on bandwagoning trends and/or picking out one or two character defining games/hobbies/interests/etc that their content will revolve around
