I wonder if the increased viewership brought about by the EN crowd thanks to clippers and memes during late 2019-early 2020 resulted in a sort of domino effect that made the JP audience notice Hololive more? They wouldn't really care where and what caused the numbers to go that high. All they'd know is this small company was starting to pick up steam. Not to me to mention its common behavior for people to bandwagon. Even now, looking at post from matome and other JP chan sites, and even something like Hololive having more entries in comiket. it's starting to feel like Holo dominating the Vtuber sphere is becoming a fact rather than an opinion.

This whole thing depends on whether the whole metaverse thing really takes off and normalizes the idea that an avatar can be used to represent a persona in the eyes of many. If I were a betting man in a major corporation, I would be sinking money into it in the off chance that it succeeds. It's only a choice between first mover advantage and a tax write off.

Kiara at one point explicited stated she was trying to stream at different times so that her EU, NA, and JP audiences would each get some in primetime. It's funny that this is just the internet going full circle. Here is the thing that most people didn't think: old forums, like the phpBB ones, were nothing but
>text only pngtubers
You had an avatar, an assumed name and your anonymity (actually pseudonymity) for as long as you wanted.

Then Facebook came with "real name" policy, Google followed suit with that retardation that Google Plus was and now people frow upon **not** giving your personal information.
Going back to avatars will be just going full circle

Anyone in Holo EN can basically stream anything at any time of the day and get 5k, aside from watchalongs, SC reading, and some super debuff stuff like weird Sana streams or Kiara JRPG Part 9. There's still clearly demand and plenty of dead hours, as long as they don't all cluster at like 6-12 EST.

I remember back when that silly duck meme was making the rounds and lots of people were like, hurr durr where are the numbers? It was just one of many things that kept Subaru in the algorithm and improved her numbers over time. She's managed to climb from a mid range Holo to a top teir one over the course of a year. Mid tier for Holo, by any other standard she was already one of the most successful vtubers in the world.

Pekora

Kuzuha

I'm not that knowledgeable in Vtubers who only make videos, can any of them compete in numbers with the above? Ai can stay as 2.98M Oyabun.

Pekora and Miko will probably always be #1 and #2 on this list unless one of them takes an extended break. Both of them stream very long hours to high CCV. The big difference between them is the weekends. Pekora tends to go ham during the weekends and bangs out 8 hour streams. Miko, on the other hand, usually takes it easy during the weekend with shorter streams like her cooking stream and her twitch watch alongs which I don't think are counted towards her hours watched or else she would be slightly higher.

She was an absolute machine but its also part of why she got so sick in 2020 so its not surprising that she takes it easier these days. And by taking it easier she is still among the top when it comes to hours streams, haha.

To put into perspective just how crazy she was in 2020. She missed almost 4 months and still finished in the top 5 in Hololive when it comes to total hours streamed.
