I only have a couple of gripes with that tournament. Most of them were afraid of tracks that weren't basic as shit so they kept choosing excite bike, which made the Wild Woods race stand out and be more exciting to watch. The other one is that Miko kept making stupid mistakes which made Noel advance to the finals despite her being laughably bad. The rest was pretty fun.

Towa ended up getting matched with Aki for every race even though the teams were getting shuffled (the shuffling was based on placement in the previous races), in one of the last rounds she "manually" moved Aki to a different team so there was more variety with the teams, but people gave her a bunch of shit for it like she was bullying her or something.

This was a great tournament hosted by a great V-Tuber.

Unfortunately, we'll never see shit like this again. We can no longer encourage competition or strife among members (even if it's only friendly) because some of the girls are unstable Fun Vampires that will cry on stream and suck the happiness out of the event, or have fans that'll campaign on their behalf.

Sports Festival having pretty much every member in the company whilst also forcing a tie isn't a coincidence. This is just what Hololive is like now: sanitised, bland, safe, and uninteresting.

I am a very competitive person as well and empathize with Aqua a lot, but at the same time its Mario Kart not Apex or LoL. Mario Kart has built in RNG and rubber banding comeback techniques it really isn't peak competition. I personally feel worse in team games in situations like that because not only am I failing myself but also my teammates, thats when its the worst imo.

In SoloQ sure but in competitive (or an in house tournament like Hololive would do or a prearranged tournament mode like Clash in LoL) you are playing with people you know and practice with, it feels worse to fail people like that than randoms you meet in ranked.

Sure it hurts to lose in front of thousands of people by 1 point but that's more or less something you should laugh about instead of being upset for more than a couple minutes, especially when it's a tournament against friendly colleagues. Moreover, it's a kart racing game where the scales can be tipped at any moment. And it's not like she was racing against bad players either; Suisei, Marine, Luna, Okayu, Subaru, and Pekora were good players who put up a fun challenge. If I were in her shoes I'd just be thankful it was a close match and it wasn't a complete steamroll.
