The only thing about his DM style I've seen that really pissed me off was with another group. One of the players was using a fishing line to fish some kind of magic orb out of an enemy that would weaken it for a few turns and not only did Arcadum tell him exactly what each orb did in full meta terms, he let him fucking pick which one he fished out.
I don't know what kind of character knowledge they may have learned leading up to that encounter or what kind of roll the guy made, but just seeing that clearly deep into the campaign really bothered me.
Otherwise he seems like a fine guy that doesn't get bothered by much.

Totally fair to be critical of Arcadum's DMing style because, well, that's kind of his profession. Honestly the D&D sessions of my youth always turned into clusterfucks because we were all just a bunch of retards. He at least seems to have a pretty good idea of what has to happen and where putting together a decent an coherent story with a variety of features. However, he was having quite a few tough times keeping up with the VShojos and friends. That he had to look up the sexualized D&D stuff just because they wouldn't shut up about monster dicks and stuff proves he just was not ready.

But bless him for having the balls to actually take them on when nobody else would. And he took a lot of shit for it from people in the D&D community. DM style critique is fine, but damning the man for believing anybody can play D&D is just fucked. Anybody can play D&D and anybody can have fun playing D&D. The people who didn't want Melody and crew playing can get fucked.

These girls legit enjoyed themselves and cried when it ended. They had a lot of love for their characters and their world. What's more pure D&D than that?

There weren't really any clippable moments from the girls. It was 6 hours of camp RP not involving them, followed by 2-3 hours of waiting on Maptools to work, then 1 hour of the most boring of cinematic fights for 10+ years of build-up. Sure, it was only ever going to end with a victory for the good guys, but it just wasn't entertaining even as background noise as I worked on something else.
