Are viewers interested in 'watching' a Vtuber gradually improve in singing/musical talent, or am I better off just doing that stuff in my spare time and showing it off once I'm at an acceptable skill level? This is starting off with no experience whatsoever if that changes anything.

Obviously you need a bit of money for a model but I'm fairly sure Kabhaal started with a PNG. Little_S is still just PNGs, Kitty is a PNG that's rigged (ridiculously cheap compared to Live2D), me2oon is a fucking vroid hoodie, and shxtou started as a PNG, Mar started off using a game rip of a Kirby mdoel.

when i say messy i mean extra strands that flip outward near the bangs, nothing too excessive.
but yea basically the end result will end up being a combination of both, with a completely different top underneath the coat. her color scheme is black/red. it def is a bit generic, but i'm coming from a vroid so anythings an improvement desu, and i really enjoy the average animu face so i kinda like it
id also use the 2nd one if it werent for the coat being identical to a booth asset so i decided to have the artist combine the two styles essentially

>>11508208
thank you, i really like the cuteness of her look too. especially combined with the tired eyes/dark circles shes got lol
gacha characters are a great reference though you're right. i sent the artist some girls frontline characters as references for her (updated) coat, since unfortunately the coat in the pic is a rip from a booth asset. i want her shirt and coat to have the high neckline going on regardless though, i may check out some more games for references too desu

Arknights and GFL both have very good tech wear you can reference. Both games are modern and yet feels great to look at. I'd suggest you sit down and start looking at their PNGs and start circling elements you like from them. >>11508505
i'm glad to hear it, originally i wasn't too interested in having a design where her chest/tummy are exposed but the tattoo and belts give such a nice touch. seeing characters with a similar style is nice.

-software: ideally id like to just use whatever software that people use to make their png move/change/brighten whenever they speak. Gotta figure out what soft that is and how to use it. I already have experience with OBS, so we're good on that front.

Do people usually get good results off of skeb? It seems like directly obscuring the back-and-forth between artist and client would mean that a lot of pieces end up not as they should have been.

>> No.11550657

>>11550523
>end up not as they should have been.
that's kind of the point of skeb. the creator of the service is an artist fed up with western commissioners constantly demanding changes, so he created skeb for that purpose. turns out a lot of JP artists also like that business model and don't like dealing with foreigners that constantly pester them with changes. you know what you're getting into with a skeb, so don't use skeb if you have something you need to make constant changes on.

Not true

> western commissioners constantly demanding changes
This is the way a commission should work, to a degree. There's literally nothing wrong with it and it's typically part of the process with even higher-priced works, especially when it comes to character design.

>> No.11551128

to add to this a bit, another issue is that you're simply getting art, that's it. you aren't allowed to monetize it in any form (you likely won't get caught but it's against TOS) as the creator still holds the rights to it, and it shouldn't even be used on stream, only on social media and personal things. I do know a lot of artists don't care since people will flat out put in descriptions it's for stream, but both you and the artist can be banned from the service if caught.

i hate the fact that twitch obfuscates their data like this. if this removed account that hadn't streamed in a month, we'd get a much clearer picture. but buttwise mcgee who started a twitch account back in 2016 when overwatch released so he could get a beta key, streamed once, and never again is still included in the stats. saying a streamer is in the top 7% is useless as a metric because of this.

>so and la going all the way down
>mi and re are the exact same pitch
With all due respect, this is horrible. Fret not, I started off horrible too, so I'm in a great position to give you some tips.

Here's some constructive criticisms:
(1) Not sure what it is, but you aren't enunciating your words clearly and it sounds like you have some sort of accent. Do pronunciation reps, practicing your vowels, singing slowly with more focus on how the words come out, etc. DO THIS ESPECIALLY IF YOU INTEND TO SING JAPANESE SONGS.
(2) Pitch pitch pitch. Practice matching pitch; use an online piano, press a note, and try to match it. If you can't tell whether you're hitting it, use tools or get a friend to help. (Tools: record using some software e.g. Adobe Audition and use the pitch detecting feature to see whether the you're on pitch.)
(3) Range: I don't know how you can't sing the song since it's only an octave wide... Increase your range by doing vocal exercises (going from your middle note to your lowest/highest, sustaining a decently high/low note, etc.)

It's bad. Really bad. But I was horrible for years too and slowly improved. Hope this helps. Maybe one day I'll come across a vocaroo showing your vocal improvement.

The issue is with how Twitch and Youtube deal with copyright claims.

On Twitch, if they catch you using copyrighted music in a VOD, they'll mute the audio, but that's it. You can appeal, but might not be worth the effort.

On Youtube, if they catch you using copyrighted music (and their bot is better than Twitch's), then they'll alert the copyright holder. The copyright holder has options - they can claim the money, or DMCA strike you.
One of my videos I screwed up setting up Twitch Soundtrack, and included a copyrighted track. Th video was marked as inelgible for monetisation (not that my channel is in the first place), and ad money would go to the guy who made the track in the first place, but I didn't get a DMCA warning/takedown request

Taking a stupid example, if you're as rich as Mansa Musa, then make a group.

Find a few indies you vibe with. Invite them to a group with a backer who wants to see them all succeed, splurge on models, overlays, adverts/retweets/VA lessons for "the whole team" (this includes you). Make sure you have some overlap in timezones, but not fully. You can collab easily, but also raid into each other. Buy adverts for them, and your own account, and put them everywhere.

Bonus points if you can pick ones with a decent grasp on somewhere else. For example, one indie I follow on Twitter did tarot readings/teachings at a pagan convention (I think?) - she put an advert for herself into the programme.

If money's no object, do stupid stuff like that. Kongou could sponsor a martial arts tournament. Koopa either an adopt-a-reptile event, or a donation drive for maternity items. Atropa an advert in "Hunting Monthly Magazine".

If I had the cash, I would LOVE to do stupid shit like this. Pay to get an advert for Krimbo in the Superbowl half-time show. Sponsor a SpaceX launch with Maroony's face on the side.

good hardware. get a good mic, sound treatment for your room, decent hardware to run the games you want and an iphone for tracking.

invest everything into your model and expressiveness. don't bother with trinkets and addons and shit. don't spend money on dumb animations that you're going to forget to use or maybe use once a stream. get a good rigger who can rig facial expressions very well, especially the mouth. facial perspective while turning to the side. basically you want to invest the most amount of money on the parts that audiences will see most often.

commissioning fanart of yourself can help, but that takes a lot of time since artists can take up to a month to finish. but if you're planning on making a big splash, you can use that time to build up hype.

don't waste time on a debut. you see a bunch of vtubers debuting with a video they pay hundreds for, only to never touch it ever again because it was a debut video with a date that talks about meaningless lore and is never brought up again. just start streaming.

invest money you have into singing, voice acting, impromptu or stand up lessons. anything that helps you gain more presence on stage and work with your voice.

Okay, so money IS an object.

You LIED to us anon!

Good hardware - get a good camera, a good mic, and a good GPU. Make sure your internet's a good speed, and that you have good sound set-up around your room to minimize disruptions. Get some good games to play through, consider (maybe) some model edits for different ones. Get some good emotes, a nice mix, and ones you'd like to see used. You can use this along with the group idea - maybe you can do a multiplayer "everyone's first Stardew game" or something. Buy a few copies for your collabs.

Video editor is a good one, but make sure they're getting as much as possible out of your vids. Don't stop at just "make a highlight reel", you want as many clips to dump everywhere as you can. Maybe reach out to the clip pages, and try shilling yourself there. It might take some extras, not just the clip being good, but if you can afford it, then look at HoneyGoblin's incline
https://sullygnome.com/channel/honey_goblin/180

If you can afford it, maybe social media managers, to post clips everywhere as a grassroots. If you're posting the clips in 50 subreddits yourself, your account looks odd. If your mods are doing some, it looks less sus.

how long would you build hype for a landmark/celebration stream? i hit affiliate earlier this week and considered doing a longer stream to celebrate but id need to either take a day off work to do it soon with minimal hype or do it a week after hitting the goal but able to do the hype. im assuming nobody really cares and a week delay allows me to build hype more but i dunno if anyone would care

This is why I skipped it. I figure there’s no point trying to monetize thru Twitch until they offer you Partner. Anything less and you are hurting your growth so much for what is likely not even enough income to get a payout from Twitch in the first place. Affiliate is a scam thru and thru

>I figure there’s no point trying to monetize thru Twitch until they offer you Partner
I've made thousands as an affiliate with about 4k of the 6k being from Twitch payouts, it's absolutely worth it but probably not at like 3 or 4 viewers. You've gotta realize Twitch viewers are used to this and will sit through ads, the only complaints I hear are from Youtube vtuber viewers that have a vtuber who switches to Twitch, otherwise I rarely hear people mention ads.

>> No.11624422

>>11622664
I've only just started getting payouts at affiliate, but it really feels magical getting even a little money for doing this. I would encourage that other anon to not wait for partner to monetize. You'll be surprised by how your viewers want to support you.

>> No.11624590

>>11622664
i can stress enough how bad it is to not take the affiliate deal if you're actually pulling in a decent amount of viewers or have a solid and active community. i grabbed the revenue of a few sub-50 viewer count streamers from people who had their info public, some monthly some total

while its not tons of money it's a lot to not get just because you wanted to wait to get Partner, which you might never reach since the the highest earner here hasn't had it in the 2 years they've streamed

The notion you'll only make enough for a twitch payout once you're partnered is basically saying "even at low-level partner youll barely be making 100 a month" which really isn't true as ive never missed a payout until the last 2 months when i slowed streaming. Again, don't take it as soon as you hit 3 viewer average but at least consider it once you get a steady 15 or so.

( If you want to do the math for subs, multiply it by 2.5 for USD and the bits are 100=1USD.)

>1
The Right Time. If you post at a time when twitter's dead, there's nobody there to see your tweet
>2
The Right Tags
If you use trending tags, you'll get promoted. If you use non-trending, you get debuffed. If you use the vtuber ones, you might get picked up by kitsune/revtweeter, which gets more eyes on you
>3
Be Funny. You actually need to have content that people like. Posting a blurred picture of the normal sky, with no commentary, isn't likely to go viral.
>4
Be Lucky. I've had one change of schedule post hit 1500 impressions. No idea what caused it, but it then meant that stream was an average of 150% normal viewers.

Put stuff in the picture - date, time, channel, and game. This meakes it easier for people to see. All that space that's clouds? It's shit. That's dead air, nothing about it is useful.

Sort your capitalization and pacing
>patients and non Patients
patients and non-patients!
or
patients and non!
this keeps it shorter, and less is more

>I want to officialy invite you to a Horror themed Collab
I am inviting you to a horror-themed collab!

Again, capitals. Also, "I want to invite you" implies you will be inviting them in future. "I am inviting you" is more direct. Go further with "We request your presence in a horror-themed collab"

You /could/ play up the doctor angle here - "(Nitto) is a visiting specialist, and we will be performing a horror-themed collab in surgical room 3"

>Saturday 5pm GMT-3
First of all, use UTC, not GMT. GMT is a weird timezone - it's not always used. BST is observed in the UK in summer, and other countries in the timezone would use UTC
Secondly, use your own timezone as well - so 5pm MSK/8pm UTC. Don't use the +/-, because people are fucking stupid.

Final point - you can get around three hashtags before twitter shits the bed. Check whether any of the #smallstreamer tags are trending, and then consider tagging the game.

The image is not very eye catching. I would go with the other anon, and add text to the image, clear and readable. Honestly I would recommend name of the game at the top, subtext being "Co-op horror with Franken and Nitto" then put like 2 timezones underneath that. Make things Big, Clear, and use white or another high contrast color that makes sense. (the other anon would use red, I would not in this instance as it doesn't fit the vibe) Maybe look into a basic online course in graphic design?

As for the text...you need to change it up. Sound more confident, be simple with some light flavor. Right now it sounds very weak/wishy-washy.

" The Doctor is in...This Saturday Join myself and Nitto for Man of Medan" or something like that. You can be quirky/add your characterization but then get straight to the point. I would also add your twitch link in the actual announcement post, not below it, as lots of people will not look that far. Essentially get the most amount of clear info you can in the shortest and most impactful way for advertising posts.

I would appreciate some feedback on any of the designs! I am aware that she doesn't look too much like a magical girl but thats kind of a part of the lore. And also if some name comes to mind when you see her, I would appreciate that too, been having a hard time picking one.

I would say, just find someone's content that you like, and start commenting/replying to posts or streams, not incessantly though, and once they start recognizing you, ask (in dms) if they'd like to collab, but never start off with that, talk regularly about things like videogames and stuff that you both have an interest. Don't force anything, but if you two aren't compatible, don't also just drop them immediately. Keep on talking because if you stop them it will seem like all your intentions to make friends had ulterior motives and you did not care about the person themself.

Just checking to make sure, are the arms intentionally made to bend at that angle?

really cute, simple facial design will make for good expressive live2d rigging while also leaving plenty of space and options for hotkey expressions.

Yes! I have a more.. cartoony? style so I just like to make stuff bendy for the hell of it. Same reason why the eyes are like that, planning on making the swirly eyes more prominent too. Either way, In the final model I would probably make her arms closer to the body so it doesn't take that much space in the screen, I feel like they are a bit distracting and would get in the way.

i don't need something super pricey. i can probably be easily talked into the price range if i like the design or the work enough

Is paying 70% of the price upfront normal for artists? It's my first time commissioning something with a price this high and I'm worried that I might be getting scammed.

i paid 50% upfront, then 50% upon delivery for mine, both model and rigging work. 70% is a bit more but not outside of the realm of good practices for artists.
