Olivia is really entertaining! I like how she reacts to the events in the game and turns them into jokes over just commenting on them, but it helps that Bioshock has a lot going on to bounce off of. I think that's a skill more chuubas should cultivate. She's early in the game, going through Neptune's Bounty. Not sure what difficulty she's playing on, but she's doing well.

Anyway, it's easy to see why she has over a hundred average viewers and the other vtuber I'm watching is mid-teens. The other one has a lot of dead air between commentary and the commentary itself is baseline reaction instead of building off what she's experiencing. For example, she just entered a new room, saw an enemy, and went, "Oh, there's this guy," implying she was looking for him earlier. She could've greeted him or acted insulted by his presence or something similar instead and made it into a micro-bit for second-to-second entertainment. I need to take notes...

It's different for everyone, for sure, although certain things incline harder/faster than others—maybe I should say that certain things are more rewarded by Twitch? I think I'd do better leaning into my manic energy than being a calm streamer, but you get people like PaperBag with good numbers and he's cool as a cucumber 99% of the time, and there's huge audiences for both high and low energy. I guess I made it sound like the other streamer is streaming "wrong," which isn't what I meant at all. I do think her commentary could use some work, but it doesn't need to be modeled after Olivia's energy.

I've actually been doing some sporadic search into this list outside of the few I already know (Randon, Little S, Kabhaal) because this is a solid list of successful male chuubas. So far the results are mixed since it seems like many of them are full on Genshin streamers, but seeing how they outline their content has been nice. Plus I'm sure with enough time digging around I can gather some more info I can use.

So far I've been impressed with Aisriale since the dude streams fun games like Paper Mario.

1/2) I'd probably write or doodle with my oshi as the subject to fill the gap... That counts as support, I think. Moving on from people is always weird, so I'd probably hope for a return for a good while.
3) Yes. Only because they came back as an entirely different person. This was maybe eight years ago back when I watched facecammers... Yuck. Guy came back after 3 months with womens' clothes and makeup on cam, different politics. It was messy. He was worse at the games he played too, so there was absolutely no incentive to stay.

She kinda is right now and I'm counting down the days until her return. It's a bit strange, I feel like I have stopped watching someone after an extended hiatus, but I can't really remember. Probably not a vtuber. I feel like if I consider someone my oshi I'll be back no matter how long I'd have to wait.

I'm still in perma-lurk mode so I generally don't make myself known. Maybe for an extended hiatus where I can't support them by just watching might force me to create content to show I still care. Yes without a doubt. I continued supporting Monoe for the full five months of her AWOL stint and still support her now in her jelly form. Same for Koragi, Shimada, everyone that's left-- either temporarily or permanently.

I don't think so, at least I hope it isn't! Just thinking of hypotheticals. I am sorry to hear about your health and burnout problems. Personally, you shouldn't feel like you need to "earn" a break but I suspect you have a personality where you'd feel the weight of expectations from your fans and couldn't enjoy a hiatus properly unless you did something sufficiently big before going. Which is unfortunate but also common for entertainers. Sure! I started streaming primarily as a source of social interaction and making friends. A lot of viewers are genuinely my friends! I message them hello and check in on them. I root for their personal projects and goals, I play video games with them off stream. Maybe not super close childhood friends level, but I really do appreciate people who take the time to get to know me or let me get to know them. Even viewers who do not do those things, even. Like when I learn a viewer's birthday, I try to save it so I can remember for next year, or when it may be coming up, because that is what you would do for a friend. Gain is usually the culprit. I'm no audio expert either but I know there should be a way to keep your gain where it is for tlaking but cap the volume or cut the mic over a certain db point.

She's an incredibly good streamer actually, she just doesn't get a lot of talk in the western community since about 90% of her streams aren't in English. I think a good handful of people know the Niwatoris also. They were original supporters of Picky when she became a vtuber.
