Yeah but they're sure as fuck not in Hololive EN and I wouldn't put any expectations on anyone in Hololive to care about thousands of random people either. I mean, most of the girls were depressed loners that probably worked a garbage abusive job with minimum wage and suddenly in hololive there are all these people showering you with love, care, affection and money, interacting and joking around with you. Whenever you try new stuff you get tons of reactions to whatever you do, thousands of people supporting your shit... Sana maybe.
She didn’t open her memberships until last because she didn’t think it’d be fair to make her fans pay for no content when she had only a few (2 iirc) days of from the jab.
She also seems to try her hardest to help chat feel like they’re somewhat involved during games, and her superchat reading streams are quite something, it’s almost like having a back and forth convo with a friend.

She spent almost 8 hours reading through all the ones she got from her SC opening stream, right after streaming a pretty difficult few chapters of Celeste.

Say what you will about Sana, but she definitely tries to make whatever fans she has feel good and at home in her streams.

Yes but anybody posting on this board has no fucking clue. They exist and there's really no correlation between those kinds of vtubers and popularity, it's rare enough to make each one a unicorn independent of any of extenuating circumstances.
Generally speaking, if there's a vtuber who has put her life on hold(openly admits she won't have a relationship IRL, does/wants to do vtubing full-time even if it means a paycut, etc) and even hurt herself in some way(financially, physically through sleep deprivation or w/e, emotionally through overinvestment in fans opinions to the point of breakdowns, etc), you can be sure they have a dependency on it. That doesn't mean they love their fans, but the only ones I've found that love their fans are also dependent on them.
Generally you also want to do reps as well, as often comparing the person behind the mask to the mask will reveal a lot. How capable they are of acting, lying, etc.

Most vtubers probably do care about their audience, but if you're in Hololive there is really no way to interact with them in a meaningful way. Pikamee is the biggest vtuber I can think of who seems to genuinely care about a lot of people who follow her, and she admitted to stalking fans a bit on Twitter.

If you want some real 2-way parasocial bond shit take the indiepill, since when you have only 20 or so active chatters it would be pretty easy to tell if the streamer hates them and is only faking it for money

People are not monoliths, anon.
Although, both states may trade off in a person's heart, making the statement true. . .
still, the same can be true in the same instant as a person is made of many smaller minds and programs. . .
still I don't think it even requires taking multiple points of view.
As these furthermore do not contradict.
fans are pathetic. this is often as close to objectively true as a judgement like this can be.
money dispensers - clearly objectively true without contradiction.
And yet, despite these facts being true, a person might look past what others would consider shortcomings and actually still care about them.
Why couldn't you?

That doesn't mean she cares about fans. She is merely trying to hide her perceived failure to perform and avoid being bullied by people shit-talking her computer--the primary tool with which she makes her living, a source of pride and significant monetary investment. De-listing the vod is incredibly selfish, though obviously totally within her rights as a streamer. It sucks for people watching Fauna's vod because they are missing the puzzles half the time.
Turning superchats off for a single stream means basically nothing in terms of being responsive to fans because she won't actually get that "pc fund" money for 2+ months. Cover has historically arranged for equipment to be purchased using loans in advance of expected earnings a few times, but it's not the norm especially for new talent. Any changes to her setup will have to be paid for out of savings or using outside loans in order to be seen as being "responsive" to potato insults.
Turning off superchats is an attempt to assert control over the streamer's relationship with viewers. It's weird to read it as selfless or moral; it's a power move, always.

It's completely insane and delusional to presume that anyone can "care" about such a large group of people in any real or significant degree. As a fan, you are part of a group, and how you are represented as a group is what they deal with personally. There will never be a real connection there, because it is pyschologically impossible to comprehend compassion for a borderline schizophrenic, money-dispensing, uncomfortably social entity. You, as a person and as a group, will never be cared for or understood, which makes your relationship with your oshi strictly: you watch -> you receive entertainment. Anything else is just playing pretend that everyone would do well to avoid taking too seriously.

And then they've gone ahead and convinced themselves that the gachikoi are the good ones, and the dangerous anti schizos are among the casual viewers
In that sense, they probably wouldn't "go for lunch" or w/e if they bumped into you because they'd assume most fans they meet at random aren't "true" gachikoi. But they'd be super excited for a chance to meet their real gachikoi at an event or something.
