The unfortunate truth is that the viewerbase of the EN speaking streamwatchers are actively hostile to jRPGs as streams unless you're able to make them entertaining. Kiara's playthrough of Atleir Ryza was actively painful, to the point where I couldn't watch because she insisted on being a stupid dumbass and Brute forcing things instead of doing some research into optimization to make streaming the game a better experience.
I don't know if she's gotten better at this, because her voice also actively filters people. The double debuff means that jRPGs are absolute numbers poison for her.
I'd honestly like someone who's probably better at games to take a shot so we can see what kinds of numbers other HoloEn can get with jRPGs.

It depends on what metric you base your judgement. I checked how fast they reached 300k subs.

Gura 4 days
Mori 11 days
Ame 13 days
Ina 18 days
Kiara 29 days

Botan 28 days
Lamy 45 days
Polka 54 days
Nene 92 days

Kronii 12 days

If we check their current growth, Mumei is Kiara/Botan tier, but Sana is even lower than Nene. Nene reached 200k subs in 28 days. It's been about 25 days since EN gen 2 debut and she's at 165k.

So could JP Gen 6 outperform council in terms of sub count? They could, but it depends on the talents and their design. But since the hiring requirements are different and the JP team has 5 gens of previous experience, my personal opinion is yes. HoloEN has too much useless lore that nerf the talents on how they behave on stream the first few months.

I've been thinking about something related to this.

https://www.youtube.com/c/Valkyrae1
There a bigger streamer on youtube (valkyrae) who doesn't list her vods. Instead they are unlisted to not mess up her subscriber's feeds. They are on the bottom of her youtube page instead. She also hires editors to clip her streams then she uploads the clips to her main channel so all of her uploads have higher quality.
Her org 100thieves is arguably much bigger/more experienced than Hololive at least with the western audience so I'm inclined to believe this is one of the best approaches to balance out casual clipwatchers with her daily streams.
Thoughts?

I feel like someone like Gura should employ this.
She gets millions of views a week on her clips alone and none of that is going to her other than advertisement for her streams. They will easily pay for themselves and higher concentration of quality clips on a regular schedule will help her out even more in the algorithm.
It'll cause a hit to her old vod views but i'm inclined to believe VODs are relatively unimportant otherwise twitch streamers would post their vods on youtube + dedicated viewers are going to watch them anyway.

Well, with 3 million subs, and the way the algo works
(It doesn't recommend all things that are only what you subbed to, it's been discussed by other youtubers that YT changed how the algo works a while back because if you were only recommended things that you were subbed to, user engagement went down. Instead, they added a 'fudge factor' to it so you could get recommended stuff outside your usual wheelhouse and otherwise to boost user retention and engagement)
Its unsurprising then that not all her VODs will get picked up, just the ones that either got watched after the stream ended a lot, boosting it in the algo, or just blind dumb luck. Its just that with more subs than anyone else, that translates into more 'potential hits' in the algo.

Nah...those who complained about umisea are those who are butt hurt that it wasn't their oshii gets the recognition for "official unit". I see umisea as a great experiment, success or failure, it's a start and opens possibilities for more. And in fact, Gura is already a big fan for Aqua before she joined hololive and also have good chemistry with Marine off-stream (and also about joining the Akukin), and Marine is already a big fan of Gura since debut and even choose Gura and Ina to be her classmate during a collab stream. Marine also wants to have a drawing collab with Ina. And Aqua already has good chemistry with Marine even with her shyness. So I see this as a win for 4 of them and Cover.

Competitive vtubers is still up for grabs along with male vtubers. But, competitive is mostly on if they can get invites from English tourneys which they can't. Male vtubers is still there because no one other than niji is taking them. You just need to hire a good retired VA for the job or another apex player.

>> No.9926876

>>9924820
The difference is that AO fags aren't endemic to this place, they only popped up because "technically" AO is a vtuber and so they can use him to troll /vt/ without getting banned. Same deal with the sodapoppin and wolfychu posters.

There are a small handful of AIfags around here, mostly in /jp/ but at least one of which pops into every AI thread that gets made here and seethes everytime someone brings up the AI VA replacement rrat. I gurantee you he will seethe mightily if Gura reaches 4mil before Ai reaches 3

>> No.9926888

>>9926724
The issue with 'competetive vtubers' is that you're now no longer competing against just the rest of the v-tubing scene, but you now pit yourself against the various eSports orgs that already exist. Why would you bother with the extra costs of getting avatars and rigs and all that if you just want a competitive group? You'd just be hiring the exact same setup as an eSports org but with extra costs associated with getting l2ds for everyone.

Competitive vtuber doesn’t just mean competes with the best of the best. Just needs to have a high enough level of play where they will be featured within the pro community as an accessory.
Look at c9 vienna she’s not a top player. But she’s in a top esport team as a streamer and was invited to do analysis in the LCS.

Subaru landed a merch with, I kid you not, the Japan wrestling association because of that wrestler that started using her Hologra move.

This won't move many units, more likely, but it is a great way to showcase your company to a completely different audience (and it goes for both Hololive and NJPW)

That's fair, my view is a bit skewed thinking of competitive streamers on Twitch Tbf. There probably does exist some market for 'good but not the best' level that vtubers could squeeze into, but imo they'd have to be on Twitch and be English speaking as I'm not sure the JP audience is there for such a team outside of Apex.

Probably their Japan branch organized the whole thing, but it's kinda stupid not to bring the most popular Minecraft vtuber into the mix. I've read the article, day 2 is an all girl's guest comprised of game commentators and vtubers. 3 teams of 6 people. One team could've been from Hololive. Just Pekora/Marine alone could bring numbers into the second day, even Flare alone could bring 10k into the mix. From an advertising standpoint, it's just confuses me.

Hololive has a terrible reputation in the JP vtubing scene for a good reason, inviting them only brings drama and idolfags which no one else wants to deal with

I don't think Hololive considers off brand collabs as beneficial for them as in brand collabs.
VSayko, for instance, was so damaging to numbers of all Holos involved (except Astel, maybe) I truly doubt many of them will repeat it next time they're invited

With regards to that Minecraft collab, makes me wonder how it would stack up if we try to compare the best that Hololive has done. The Sports Fest from last year was their highest right, though I believe it was also split into like 5 perspectives or something. Numbers might still be comparable.

Bad examples using VSaikyou. It's Apex, It's not a universally popular game played by almost everyone in the world. It's the JP branch of minecraft that invited those from Day 2 into their event. Do they look like Apexfags/FPS to you guys? The article literally said that only day 1 is comprised of FPSfags while the second one is mostly vtubers, all-female ones. That's a much better way, thanks for the tip, I'll start doing it that way when I calc the mean (although I'm more partial about using only the median)
