I don't want them to show their faces because it helps to filter losers. Losers have that "look at *ME*" "look how cool *I* am" attitude but the avatar detracts from that. People recognize the avatar and NOT them, which drives them insane. Attention seekers struggle with it big time, but those who're more interested in actual entertainment are more cool with it. While selfies can do the same, they're usually to bring attention to your appearance alone because it feels good to be complimented. I doubt outsiders who may find a selfie of yours will be very interested in your content when they find out you stream with an avatar. This is a vague distinction anyway but it makes sense to me.

I hit a minor milestone recently, but was blindsided by it after a large raid, so hadn't had anything planned to celebrate. Decided I'd do a 'drop your avatar I'll say something nice about it', because people seem to like them (they're terrible, but it's pushed me another few viewers up), and they're good for finding new groomables.

Jesus, some of these people? They have an avatar that look like a retarded monkey drew it in crayon. Or they have the default avatar.

I'm not very picky at all, to be honest, I'll go for anything. Oil-massage on a 3dio is amazing, and it's like ocean waves, so it lulls me to sleep; or hair brushing/soft spoken. ChloeCat does good vids, but she's JOP, which kinda sucks. I've also tried 'sleepy just chatting' streams. Slugma's got one on YT that I had for a while.

Oof. Too much ranting about Vanilla and TBC WoW. While I miss some things about those days from over a decade ago, I'm so glad to be free.
1) Song covers! I absolutely LOVE fresh takes on things like Elliott's (Swing) KING cover, which usually aren't really streamable type content in that much preparation and editing is required to get it 'just right.'
2) HoloGraffiti type skitwork, where it's rapid-paced goofy use of models and voices that isn't really livestream-capable. Kwap's functional youtube-poop videos are an excellent example.
3) Youtube is fabulous for collating and collecting discrete videos, so it would excel for highly-edited content hosting. Be it song covers, clip compilations, model-posing skits, whatever it have you. The only other real video hosting service that's penetrated the normiesphere, for ability to hook new 'viewers', would be Tiktok, and for as much shit as I give Susan for her dogshit garbagefire, I don't know if Tiktok is any better in some respects.
4) As others have said, the technical wizardry that goes on behind the scenes that manifests in a cleaner streaming experience, or general community shenanigans. Bot configuration for commands, autoTweets for LIVE alerts, little goofy games that chatters can engage in, dicking around with regulars outside of the chatbox like on Twitter or Discord.
5) Work is driving me nuts, and I'm permanently exhausted, but I've got a roof, a bed, food to eat, and money to make sure that stays true, so it's really not that bad.

For dedicated videos you maybe need YouTuber-reps. Don't worry too much and just create content that you'd like to watch, if you want to. Some vtubers and streamers seem to employ editors to produce clips or short summary videos of their streams on top of a separate vod-archive. Youtube is definitely better suited for video-content of all lengths. Discoverability is a huge factor. But getting in the good graces of the algorithm isn't easy.

Commissions, producing assets for others, doing work-for-hire if you have the necessary skills.

Do it, but don't just drop your PNG. Find one or two other posters who are slightly bigger than you, like their tweet, pick something cool out of their outfit, comment on it, and then follow them. Stay active in their posts (this works best if they don't overlap stream time with you much, as there's a chance of a raid).
A chunk of my viewers come from one femtuber who shilled me in her stream a LOT. Her whole mod/VIP team now chill in my stream before hers, but I end stream about two hours before hers starts, so I never have to raid unless I go long

I use GIMP, because it has very easy layers. To make a basic one:

Use your BG from streaming as the base layer
Add a layer that's slightly darker to fill with the text.
Put your avatar/fanart on one side
Put a header for 'schedule of week XXX-YYY'
In the text area, either put each day and the plan, or only the days you plan on. If you want, add a screenshot (like Koopa's) of the game
Add your links, and icons. Make it easy to find you everywhere.

Post the schedule on every SM site you use. Set it as offline background on twitch.
