give me some reasons why my views on her might be biased or wrong. i'll probably never like her but i can at least rationalize why other holos like her.

I watch her because she's the only holo that plays certain games I like. But sometimes I have to turn her off because she can get INCREDIBLY whiney about the most petty of things.
It makes me wonder how she can function IRL.

You don't have to like everything about someone to like them. I mostly only tune into Kiara when she's doing zatsus. She's very candid and straightforward and is the best source for insider info among EN Holos.

i used to dislike kiara... she's kinda grown on me more and more as some of these indies let their mask slip more and more

she's my oshi but I definitely understand why people hate her or think she's annoying. bc admittedly she can be annoying as fuck sometimes, especially during collabs. (but the ame collab happening rn is actually really chill and great)
I love her energy, and she always speaks her mind. she also interacts with her chat more than anyone else in myth, thanks every new member, and it's really clear she's always paying attention to it even when she's preoccupied. she's a gachikoi's dream
also her voice regrettably grows on you a fuckton.

I've been watching Kiara since debut, and I've enjoyed her ever since.
That being said, I understand why people dislike her, and the reasons why.
If it's the voice, yeah, I can't help you. Her normal voice is much more pleasant, but she insists on using Ame's cookiecutter mixer settings that don't fit her voice at all.
If it's her personality, you must understand that "Kiara" spent 10 years chasing her dream and having everything she built ruined over and over again. This makes her jaded and fragile, yet the fact that she kept chasing her dreams is admirable to me. Others misinterpret her insecurity as malicious envy, but it's largely self-loathing and a fear of repeating the past. This insecurity is coupled with another point that people dislike her for, which is her extremely open and boisterous personality. Let me tell you that this part of her is absolutely genuine, and is probably inherited from her European upbringing. She often speaks without thinking, and is very blunt with her words. This is interpreted by some as her being hostile to others. If you've watched for an entire year though, and see how the girls interact with each other, you'd see that she's far too honest to be malicious; she's naturally open and says what's on her mind immediately, banters with her audience, her genmates, other holos, is self-deprecating yet extremely sentimental and emotional, and expresses herself completely with no filter. Reading all that, it's very easy to understand why some people hate her; because they have an impression of her that's incomplete, and it remains incomplete because impressions stick and reinforce themselves over time. You don't have to like her, but the fact that she's built a hardcore audience despite her many faults should clue you in that there's more to the picture than what you've seen.

She's genuinely caring towards her genmates. A slight cultural and language barrier might make her come off as off-putting, but her intentions are always good, although sometimes misguided.

She's kind and empathetic towards people. While others might be fast to comment 'LETS GOOO', she will actually reply to those comments in full seriousness. She will always give a benefit of the doubt. If you know of her previous life, she's been on the shitty end for years and years while going at it alone.

She has a deep respect for Hololive and what it stands for. She's been a fan long before she debuted, and she's endlessly thankful to be a part of it. Can't count how many times she advised future talents to do it for the love instead of the money. Just by looking at the stream hours, she's one of the most hardworking ones in EN, and even in Hololive in general.

She started off bad, but she's clearly constantly improving every day as a streamer and as a personality. She has a lot of communication problems and self-doubt at the start (it's mostly her past haunting her), but she has learned to take control of situations, learn to dispel rumours and doubts by communicating clearly, and learn to be frank with her viewers with a lot of things concerning herself, which some of her genmates still struggle to do. Her honesty is probably one of her strongest points.

She has a bad habit of making things about herself, which is a flaw in her character. But she has better control of it now, especially after the Uno collab where she is blasted in comments and in clips. It's still there, but she is getting better at least. It's good that she has friends that keep her in check, for example, Gura, who will not hesitate to bant a little to remind her in some cases.

The voice bothered me at the start and I try to avoid her streams in the beginning. But her personality manages to shine through, and in time, I just got used to it. I watch her the most now.

She dorky, has a basic bitch taste, sometimes dumb, but I find her admirable and endearing as she is very true to her convictions. Something that I could learn myself.

Just keep in mind that every girl in Hololive has flaws in one way or another. Nobody can be perfect. Sometimes accepting them as they are and helping them to the right path is the best way forward.

Anyway, in the end, it's just cute anime girls trying to entertain you. Don't take it to seriously. And it's okay to skip some of them because they don't suit your tastes. Don't have a headache over it.

She was an easy target due to the initial impression making you notice her somewhat harsh voice.

She grew from that as a person though, and I'm pretty sure she's stronger and better than before thanks to it. Antis' campaign backfired pretty much.

As a bonus watch her recent cooking streams. Somehow her voice is a lot better in those. Maybe it actually is just the distance to the microphone.

>> No.9235572

In the same boat as you, OP. I hated her from the start, as she seemed so incredibly annoying (especially her voice).

I haven't watched any of her streams, but lately I've been watching a few clips and she seems like such an incredibly genuinely nice person. I feel bad for having anti'd her for so long.

I think I agree with this, except for the "used to dislike" part. I find her very genuine, which makes her easy to watch, to me. I don't watch her frequently, but whenever I tune in I don't feel filtered in any way, it's very clear who she is and that what I'm listening to is her truth.
I don't need to see eye to eye with her to find it enjoyable to listen to her thoughts and interests. Conversely, I've recently got into a much smaller chuuba with tastes and opinions that are much closer to my own, and while it was great at first, it quickly started to wear off, because it felt too fake. Not that the opinions are false, but it felt like appealing to me and other retards who happen to have the same preferences are the full extent of her on-stream personality, you never get a glimpse of anything else, there's no hint of inner conflict of any kind. Even the voice, Kiara's chicken voice might not be exactly her natural one, but at least it's not leaning into "cute voice" in an unberable way. Maybe it was the intention, but seeing how many people despise the voice, it's clearly not working as intended. It feels like I'm listening to a person, not a dubbed anime.
I think she was being a spoiled ungrateful brat when she was whining about company support around the time of IRyS' debut, but at the end of the day I find it a positive that she would stay true to her in my opinion stupid views instead of just faking through her issues.
Reminds me of when Coco was leaving, and Marine was asked her thoughts about the graduation stream, and she said "to be honest, I felt like leaving too". None of her fans liked listening to it, obviously, but I still really like that she feels respected enough by her fanbase to be able to talk openly like this, instead of having to bottle up every negative emotion because she's only seen as a trained monkey who is supposed to repeat the catchphrase every stream.

Instead of listening to random rrat filled anons on here, why not look at how much her genmates love her.

Despite Kiara voice, awkward personality, legitimate ESL issues, you can tell that Gura, Ina, Ame, and Calli truly and genuinely enjoy her presence. Gura especially is the biggest indicator for me. You'd think there'll be some reservations between them because Gura has smashed every numbers record while Kiara's biggest flaw is her obsession around numbers. But no, if you watch Gura regularly you'll see that she truly loves Kiara. And same goes with Kiara to Gura.

i genuinely dislike her. i've never put more effort into it than thoughts and avoidance, as well as, of course, saying so here when the topic comes up.
i've never had someone get under my skin so much, probably because i'm stuck in a tug-pull where i feel bad for her yet dislike her -- that and i dislike disliking people so much as to discount them. it's not an obsession, but it bothers me how almost nobody else or anything else actually gets to me. it makes me uncomfortable that i care at all, as uncomfortable as you should feel seeing this text.

she's in the perfect position of nice enough and pitiable/self aware enough where i feel bad for her and just obnoxious enough to make me -- atleast this would be the case for most people, though as previously said not for her -- not care to interact with her, just turn off my brain sort of avoidance/lack of care.
she doesn't take up much headspace, but it does bother me how this medium which has a decent amount of good people has me thinking such indecent things about their coworker. it's not about the size of space i use to dislike her, it's about the proximity of it and insertion of it into a thing i like.

that's my autistic essay on it. why i feel bad for disliking her. i healthily dislike people much more than her, such as mao or xi, but i don't have nearly the conflicted feelings over it.

Her voice is like the opposite of ASMR to me. It also doesn't help that she's often unintentionally (or at least I think so) rude. Like that time she told Nyanners that she doesn't have any real family or friends. Like, she could've chosen to say anything else, but decided to go with that.

I guess what I'm trying to say is ORANGE WOMAN BAD.

I don't dislike Kiara. I'd go so far as to say she rounds out the Myth group in a nice way, she does have talents that are unique to her, and I will unironically be sad when she goes away for the last time.
But I can only take her in small doses. I don't want to listen to her voice for longer than a few minutes at a time. She reeks of the kind of insecurity that even one million subscribers and hundreds of thousands of dollars in the bank cannot fix. I'm not gonna pretend to know her, and again I don't dislike her as a chuuba, but what I know of her has me convinced she's somebody I would genuinely detest in the real world.

It's okay not to like someone even if there might not be a good reason for it. Some people just get under our skin even though we know objectively there's nothing wrong with them. For instance, I don't like Gura, but at the same time I wish her well and I don't go around trying to convince anyone else not to like her.
