Another thing to ponder is if it is even in the best interest of the devs to make everybody happy. Sure, a good game is a good thing, but rising playercount also drives up cost and serverload, and due to licensing and intellectual property of several parties the game leeches from, monetizing it in any way which is not donations (check the ko-fi in the info page) would also get it taken down.
Basically all the playerbase can do is make suggestions which the dev team will have to evaluate on a number of factors, including their own vision for the game.

Make it closer to an actual market. A certain number of coins are created each day for each chuuber. You can buy them until they run out and are regenerated next day, or selling adds a coin back into the pot. Popular coins will run out, people will fill the pot back up when they dump creating buying opportunities for others while stocks are high. Scarcity is a major factor in market economics and it's the one factor that's missing in the game.

The biggest problem is that you would need to somehow incentivize any reason for the PvP sale to even occur in the first place. If the coin adjusts up in the game now, people sell because it prints money, and the coin's value goes back down. Prestige doesn't have to mean a complete reset. It could be 20 million coins to start. It wouldn't affect the ability to buy more coins for richfags but it does get rid of some excess cash. People would prestige if the mechanic was prioritized into the leaderboards. Prestige level > money = rank. Tier the ranks to make it easier to understand.

The best part of this idea is that it should be easier than overhalling the current game mechanics. And if inflation needs to be adjusted again, Honk could simply add another tier

We make it so that there is "upkeep" for divs. What I'm proposing is have a pot for each coin that determines how much of the divs we get ACCESS TO for each week (with our current div system being the full amount of each div). This pot scales with the value of each coin (so 30k marine could have a ~100M quota, where as a 3K nabi could have a ~5M quota) and anyone can contribute. How much of each quota is filled, along with performance, determines the final div payout.

I actually think we have enough coins in the market we could completely overhaul the economy and remove broker-generated coins.
Every time you want to buy a coin, someone else has to sell it to you.
I don't think this really fixes anything, though, because all that happens is with inflating divvies the top players are willing to pay 50k+ for literally any coin they can get their hands on and they end up hoarding all of the coins into their wallets and choke out the poorfags.

Bogration/overbought was only really bad for the first week. My REAL problem with it was that coins that should have went up would go down/coins that ended the day down 20% from their original value would drop another 60% the next day.
But really once you realized that pattern you just bought conservatively on Monday/Tuesday, a bit more on Wednesday and then dumped everything into coins on Thursday/Friday at their lowest prices so you could get max divvies.

I still think that there's no easy and fast solution to the inflation. In fact, I wonder, if the devs should just close the market until they figure out the solution.
I also think that we need a moneysinker. It shouldn't be optional or mandatory, but, rather, it should be more hurtful to not sink money in it, than to do. That way we can force people like cypher to spend their money. The anon, who keeps bringing up the risk game, is probably the closest to the right answer. We need a way for a more direct and less avoidable conflict between the players. It might be hard to balance it (my main concern is giving people the ability to just obliterate someone) and probably even harder for devs to implement even the basics of it, but I just don't see any other way out.

Crunching the playerbase isn't the goal. The leaderboard right now represents nothing but Degree of Autism over Time. If you're not high on the leaderboard, it's because you're not trading autistically enough or haven't been playing long enough, or a combination of the two. As long as nobody outmatches cypher's ThinkPad in autism and playtime, he will remain at the top of the leaderboard. Frankly, that's how it should be. That's how it is with MOST leaderboards. You're not going to change such a deeply inherent operation of a mechanic just by wanting to change it, especially when there's no real reason for it to change.
The goal should not be "let new players compete on the level of old players and jump into the Top 10/20/50/100". That will sort itself over time. The goal (or at least one goal) should be to engage new players so that they WANT to do that THEMSELVES.

Literally all game design is manipulation and trickery and provocation in some form, at least in the denotative sense of those words. You are trying to use numbers and autism to invoke a desired emotional response in the player. If you think about things from that perspective, ideas on how to improve a game should be easier to come to.

I would add that real stock markets like we're dealing with have people working to earn enough to even play the game. There are always expenses that we can't correctly simulate in terms of liquid currency. That's why we have a vast amount of money around, nobody needs to spend it on vital stuff, so we won't.
I said it last thread but a life sim where we need to account for expenses would solve the issue of mass hoarding slightly, and force us to liquidate some shares if needed. you can't trade a share of marine to pay your mortgages on multiple properties.
But forced money sinks would leave a bad taste in the mouths of everyone, so add benefits and debuffs if you don't invest into this system that makes it feel more engaging and smarter plays.
It's a dumb idea but I think with a bit more polishing it could help our situation

I saw some posts mentioning a lack of dev presence the past few threads, I just want to let everyone know that I and the rest of the team are in fact here and reading everyone's suggestions. We are indeed considering doing some major changes to the mechanics, but as you've discussed, it's a very tricky subject to balance in order to make it interesting for new players while keeping the old players engaged as well. I think we've been hesitant to join in on the discussion to prevent showing any kind of biases or skewing the conversation towards certain ideas. But there's a lot of good ideas that we're definitely considering. Just wanted to reassure you that we haven't abandoned the game, I appreciate everyone who's given feedback and ideas. We're planning to have some meetings soon on what direction we want to go and we'll definitely be keeping everyone up to date for more feedback and discussion.
