Super Metroid is a good place to start for gameplay. There's also Metroid Zero Mission and Fusion on Wii U VC. The only Metroid game Sana cannot legally play is Metroid Samus Returns for 3DS only because Nintendo has a ban on streaming using modified hardware.

Super and Prime 1& 2 are my favorites, but I think I can admit Zero Mission is probably a better starting point than Super for someone totally new. I forgot all about Federation Force. I might have cared a little about that one if they had at least been able to do a F-Zero tie-in somewhere, or something that really expanded the world a bit. As it stood, it just felt like a spinoff of a spinoff of an alternate universe, better off ignored.

Anyway, a part of me is wondering if maybe another type of exploration game might be good for Sana to try too. People have mentioned Outer Wilds and NMS, I've mentioned maybe some old JRPGs like Star Ocean. Are there any spacey Zelda-like games out there?

If you don't mind jank there's classic Phantasy Star for Master System and Megadrive. I think only Phantasy Star IV is the one that resembles a modern 90's JRPG. Alternatively I would recommend Lufia. However Lufia is a Taito property owned by Square Enix. It is a DEAD series Square will have no interest in granting permissions to stream. Plus there's only Lufia II (which is just named Lufia) as the official release in PAL on SNES. And only The Legend Returns got a re-release on GBC via 3DS VC. There is also Curse of the Sinistrals for DS but its a shit game I wouldn't recommend. Plus its physical only. So no streaming on modified hardware.

There's a lot of game series I can think of for SNES to recommend. But unless they get NSO ports or VC releases they can't be streamed. That said Sana might have some more luck with PSone classics on the Playstation Store if she's got a PS3 and PS4. That said you have to be mindful of who holds the IP now. Because old games don't have streaming clauses.

Anyone knows Hololive's stance on retro abandonware computer games? Abandonware are computer games that have no active publisher or rights holder. I know there's a big no-no stance on emulation for consoles because Nintendo, SEGA, Sony, and Konami (owns Hudson who made PC Engine) forbid emulation outside their official re-releases. Sana might have better luck with emulating old Amiga and DOS abandonware. Depends on Australian and Japanese law I guess.

According to Nintendo's eShop Blaster Master Zero is published by Inti Creates, though Sunsoft also holds the rights. I'm sure Sunsoft won't mind the free promotion. I can kind of understand Sana's appreciation for astrology because any framework that attempts to categorize personality is helpful for recognizing that people have different perspectives and values. Even if its methods are bullshit, you at least gain the perspective that people have different strengths and weaknesses, and can learn to value and appreciate that rather than criticize them for what they aren't. It also helps you to understand yourself better. I think different personalities and characteristics are real, but solely taking birthdate as input for categorization is still gonna get a yikes from me.

I'll say, as someone who avoided vtubers for a long time, the loli sugariness of a lot of characters is what pushed me and a lot of my friends away from this hobby. Exploring this board, it's unsurprising then, that most people's tastes in design around here clash so much with mine. Sana, both in design and personality, appeals to me a lot more than most of what's considered popular here.

However, I'm finding out some of my friends are coming around to vtubing now because of Council memes, and the ones I chatted with said they find Kronii and Sana the most enjoyable to watch. From my perspective, it seems as if Kronii and Sana in particular are starting to tap into an audience of people who have otherwise only had a passing interest in this whole thing before.

Part of Sana's challenge compared to Kronii though, is that she has to think more outside the box to extend her reach, since she doesn't have the same quick meme-fuel that Kronii has. She's cheerful, silly, and pleasant, but isn't going to do the Pikachu voice on request or act like a dommy mommy, If she can successfully carve her niche though, I think she has a chance to expand in ways the others might not be able to (pun intended?).

Her best asset I feel is from being fairly genuine too, at least as far as corporate avatar role-playing goes. I don't know if Holos are allowed to do interviews but she'd probably be really good at it. And yeah, she definitely needs to find ways to use her art talents more. .

I had a lot of fun with the Celeste and Rhythm Heaven streams. Retro stuff would be great for her I think, even stuff she hasn't played before. She made Bread and Universe simulator fun to watch too. Input lag kinda crippled her a bit with the Mumei collab, but once she got used to it I like how she got Mumei to explore the map a bit with her. The rope swing she did was a highlight of that stream for me, and is probably something few people bother trying on a blind run. Seeing her find it and just go right for it is part of why I enjoy her so much.
