Are there any people here who's on the verge of losing their vested interest on virtual youtubers? If so, why? What's that dealbreaker that broke the camel's back?

>> No.9159217

The fanbase wars are fucking retarded and are seriously tiring me. It's like Kpop boyband rivalries with teenage girls slapfighting each other all the time, except it's with grown men and instead of calling each other fat they call each other niggers. It's childish and I'd love to be able to discuss vtubers normally without seeing this bullshit, but it's so prominent now.

>> No.9159249

It's literally imported from /v/. Pay those children no mind and discuss the chuubas you love.

Not our fault that they've become hipsters and used their knowledge to to use against the fandom they were once was, to justify their chuubas being the best.

Also, their ancestors are literal evil. and the sole reason why i became a brand loyalist.

The whole business model relies on hitting the serotonin receptors of the most desperate and clingy fans over quality content because 1 paypig is worth more than 1000 casual viewers.
So over time content more and more filters down to 4-5 in jokes or behaviour patterns that make that 1 fan throw his wallet at the screen.

Can you not use Pomu for your rants Holofag? The fact you are bored with EN, found EN2 disappointing, refuse to watch ID because of Ollie and can't understand JP does not mean there is anything "wrong" with the vtubing industry. You just need to branch out from your comfort zone.

Browsing here will absolutely destroy your interest in vtubers. I put 4chan behind a content blocker during prime time in Japan and the West but it’s hard not to switch it off during dead hours. Even still it has greatly helped to refocus my attention on watching streams instead of shitposting and being subjected to a lot of the trash that is posted here.
I also started subbing HoloEN for NijiEN after Holo EN2 debuted and that change in atmosphere has helped to renew my interest in English vtubers. Good luck

Same. Chuubas convinced me to get a job and get out of 2 years of NEETdom in order to drop most of my first paycheck ever on a $500 akasupa. Ironically, this also made me wead off of vtubers as I realized how fleeting that happiness was just for my oshi to acknowledge me for a couple seconds.

I just don't understand how paypigs do it. Do they get a sense of accomplishment or ownership or something?

This. Simps are insufferable, and there's no way around it considering they're the ones financially supporting GFE. I can't find common cause with them.

It's also cancel culture. The high minded moral gatekeeping is so extreme I don't believe anyone who catered to my niche well enough would survive or even want to become an eceleb. Lord knows I decided against it after the arkademon fiasco broke this camel's back. The end goal seems to be driving men out of the streaming industry. But because women are too vapid and shallow to truly entertain me, that in turn drives me away from watching streams.

Vtubing is a fun concept, and it'll probably continue to thrive in Japan. But in the west, where rabidly purging men from online spaces is championed, streaming will be nothing more than shitposting material until it collapses in on itself from the weight of territorial militant feminism. It's like how I never used to skip a marvel movie, but won't be seeing Black Widow, the eternals, or any of the TV dramas. Back in the day when sexual harassment was commonplace and overlooked, that allowed great men to create great works of entertainment. Ripping that out of the entertainment industry to try and ideologically sanitize it will always backfire hard, and I'm not investing in a medium that's due for a woman-induced implosion.

Maybe there'll be something to salvage if ecelebs destroy themselves quickly enough. But if it's a slow collapse, I'll just stick with my Chinese Saturday morning toy commercials. Patriarchy and fun go hand in hand, even if they're about to completely ruin that as well. At least there's a fuck huge backlog to go through during the dark ages. Gonna love me some Go-Busters whenever I get time.

I look at them just like I look at literally any other streamer. If their content is good - I follow, if it's not - I don't.
I found exactly what I was looking for and I'm happy.
I'm starting to lose interest in the bigger ones whose main shtick was cuteness, though. It just doesn't cut anymore. A streamer can't be *just* cute, they have to be entertaining aswell.

Although not directly stated, this is probably an issue all these comments boil down into. Vtubers require a suspension of disbelief in order to function, the more you realize that the "happy, entertaining" attitude is just a facade the more you realize that Vtubers share more in common with your common retail worker than anything else. Yeah, they get to play games and such. But the heart of it, the "community engagement"? The "be respectful of others"? "ensure the viewer is having a good time"? That's all just customer service 101. If you gave a service clerk an anime set up and told them "Play this game, and we'll not only pay you your minimum wage but also let you earn tips", those fuckers would revolutionize the industry.
In short, vtubers require a lie in order to create the atmosphere needed for them to work. A lot of vtubers, for better or worse, actually have 0 experience dealing with that type of enviroment. The really good ones probably do have experience OR are natural gifted. I've seen people come in and just be good clerks right off the bat.
Source: 7+ retail worker.

Tl;dr: Vtubers are retail workers, but they serve autists instead of regular people. Figure that out, all the illusions they make fall apart.
