But the gist of what she's said since is that it was weird that he seemed to play favorites with certain characters (Lucine getting the magical girl transformation as an example). She said Snuffy got anxiety over the green goo thing I assume she means in the moment because it looked like Snuffy was jut going to fucking die and she seemed enthused after the fact and the Tyre thing came into it. Said she also had a big google doc typed up about her character and the direction she wanted to take her that she gave Arc and implies that it didn't feel like he was taking any of that into consideration with what he was doing. I strongly disagree with this. The amount of tension about losing your character was brilliant. If you don't give the player the illusion that the fight meant something then it becomes pointless. A good DM should hold up the illusion that whatever you are fighting is actually dangerous. This produces those epic moments where for example Nia shoots the Mistwalker in the End. And you can see that reflected in the fanart. And if its actually too tough then you just get that little bit of help like the whole Scene with Zen and Mad Morc and the Arena fight to revive Harukas character. Or you can watch the final battle of Mouse, Silver, Mel etc where they face this seemingly unwinnable fight only to masterfully dismantly the mechanic and turn it around.
Arcadum was a shitty person but yes he was a very good DM.
