Who is the best at playing with their model's expressions so well that even when they aren't talking they convey their emotions effectively?

It's weird that their technology is still at the level where they need to manually change their expressions instead of being able to track that too.

The technology does already exist, but for some reason they choose not to use it.

Pippa has great eye tracking especially for size. Adds a lot to the experience imo. Not sure if the model is just well rigged or if Phase just has some secret sauce

Supposedly, they have their own proprietary software that is exclusively used within the company.

>> No.8532270

>>8528445
Also, is that the correct use of the word proprietary? I have no idea. I just tossed it in there because I thought it'd make the post sound smarter.

>> No.8532403

>>8532270
If you mean in-house software then yeah that’s correct. I guess it would technically be more accurate if it was in-house software that was also copyrighted and available to the general public but no point in splitting hairs.

Watame.
But I also enjoy ones that don't give a fuck about changing expressions like Korone with her happy big brown eyes and tulip mouth.

Nijisanji in general seems to have superior software. In terms of manually doing things, I think Mori does amazingly. There’s very little pausing when she toggles faces.

This might showcase the emotions a bit better. They usually trade the range of motion for automatic emotion expression.

Not to say Nijisanji doesn't have good facial expression technology but I'm pretty sure Hololive models are also able to detect the eyes and mouth opening wide. It's the smiling, frowning, etc. without having to press a button that is what Hololive models can't do.

I think Fubuki's rig is a pretty good example of what you said. The smilings and such are pretty well expressed.

The eyebrows are another key part of conveying emotional expressions. I know Nijisanji's are automatically tracked and can change shape and angle depending on the talent's expression (compare eyebrows on >>8533367 to >>8534225 ). I don't believe Hololive's is able to do that automatically, but I may be wrong.
