Niji had one of the first English-speaking vtubers to really take off on their roster (Hana Macchia) and they left her to shoot herself in the foot continuously for months while trying to break into the EN market by paying clippers to translate Ars playing Minecraft.
When they did eventually get around to a proper EN branch (NijiIN doesn't count) it was one surgically targeted at EOP Hololive fans, with the first 3 waves all having fantasy designs and being all-female, launching with music videos and lore and shit.

The answer is simple, nijisanji were late to the EN party and missed the growth period during lockdown and the only reason they still got decent growth was their good picks for gen 1 and 2 with only one dud and the fact that hololive gen 2 took more than a year to pull together.

Their collabs are excellent. However, that's selling them too short. For instance many of you bitch about Petra, without watching her recent content which is great. You are adhering to an already obsolete concept of her. Her Super Mario stream was great, so was the Mario collab, and her cooking stream etc. She's also a great singer. The girl is constantly improving, you just aren't giving her a fair chance.

Rosemi is also great in my eyes. Pomu needs no comment, she's doing fine. I'm also getting into the fish recently.

Simply put this isn't a problem on the side of the livers, it's a Niji problem. They dropped the ball at the beginning and that hurt them. Cover took it seriously from the start and that paid off.
