We only have infrastructure for clearing snow. Whenever a hurricane that can knock more than a moderate amount of trees comes around we are in a pickle because municipalities are not equipped to fix things quickly. I can tell you for a fact there has been very little effort clearing overhanging branches/dead trees from power lines (hell, there are three spots in my town alone where you can see a tree leaning on the lines) and that shit's all coming down tomorrow. There are also tons of roads crossing brooks/streams which can easily disable travel because they were never expected to flood. I lost power for over two weeks from Sandy and it was only Cat 1 when it made landfall (NYC metro area, northwest NJ in particular).

Most of the problem, especially outside of urban cores, is that the infrastructure for power+telecom is literally stapled to half-broken trees and moldy poles.
Get some mildly high-winds and branches go flying and knock shit off poles or just break the pole entirely. Just multiple that by about 500 poles scattered around bumblefuck and it takes a week before everybody is up and running again.

There have been a few problems.

As you've already guessed Ceres has had to leave New York and it was rather abrupt. She'd been telling her manager it was fine and that the local authorities had said her area wasn't in any danger.
That was total bullshit. Her manager found out that actually she was in a really bad spot for flood and wind damage risk, the one who told her it would be fine was her landlord.
So a very quick evacuation has had to be planned at the company's expense. Nobody is happy about that.

Hakos computer was all set up and ready to roll with all the software. Then she did something stupid and went on a bunch of shady sites. Her computer is now completely fucked and she's being guided through completely reinstalling everything. There's talk of giving her a second computer to use just for streaming/work related things if this becomes a habit.

Nanashi has freaked out and gone silent. She hasn't got any real past experience with this kind of thing or online content in general. She was a scouted talent rather than one that auditioned.
For an idea of what her background is: She's a classically trained opera singer and the company had to buy her a computer as she previously didn't own a desktop.
It seems the whole sudden exposure (despite it being a character not her) has overwhelmed her and now she's not talking to anyone. Management is now having to send someone to her home to get her talking again. Again at the company's expense.
