I'm mostly on /vt/ now but I still go back to /jp/ for the general and the individual threads.

One day I saw that one Matsuri video with bandaids in my recommendation and the rest is history. I've been on 4chan since 2011 or 2012-ish, so according to the charts that makes me part of the cancer wave, which is funny to me since I'm old enough to have been on 4chan as part of their original demographic, but I just never found it. My first home board was /k/, then /mlp/ until the show died. I discovered that vtubers were a thing around the time of HoloEN's debut thanks to YouTube recommends, and I went to /jp/ cause I figured they'd have threads about it. /hlgg/ was my new home, and I migrated when /vt/ was made. In my opinion, all 4chan[nel] boards are more alike than they like to admit, and I never got the board tribalism that seems to reign. I've visited almost every board, and we mostly share the same culture, just expressed in different ways. Except for /x/, those fags are legit schizos.

Not a vtuber fan much, the only one I actively watch is Gura yes I know she's #1 in subs, but the reason I found her is that I prefer full streams to highlights, so that eliminates JP tubers, and I like her the most out of HoloEN. The reason I'm here is because despite not watching a lot of vtubers, I do like the girls from Hololive. They're interesting to me, enough that they've gotten me to evaluate the types of people I'd want to meet in the real world, and also made me consider what changes I should make for myself. I wouldn't consider it an obsession, but it's something that's rubbed me the right way, that I'm happy I've had the chance to experience. Aside from Hololive though, I'm pretty cynical of vtubers in general. I know nothing of Nijisanji, I don't like VShoujo aside from Melody, and I'm not a fan of indies since I don't see the point in being a vtuber when you could just stream without a facecam.

For this board specifically, I came here cause I saw the announcement, and I stayed because I like the Hololive threads, however I also find this to be a fun board to lurk in general. Not many people say good things about /vt/, but I think it's a pretty decent board. People obsessing over streamers in mocap who pretend to be anime girls doesn't feel any weirder than what the rest of the internet obsesses over. The only posts I see here that come off as odd are the anti posts. There's nothing wrong with not liking a certain streamer, or even saying you don't, but I don't understand why anyone would dedicate their time to actively hating a content creator they don't like.

I watched a lot of Pikamee for a while. Some friend I hadn't talked to for a while thought I was playing a game because Pekora did and started sending me a bunch of hololive clips. I started watching some and was trying to decide on a favorite but then realized they were all good in their own way. I never went to /jp/ because it always felt like it was intruding on their touhou culture but all the threads that popped up on /v/ from time to time were the >she posts and doxfags which I didn't really care to be in. I gave the board a shot when it started and found it more positive about their passions than most of 4chan.

Might as well confess my sins here.
I got into Hololive around April 2020 and the only place that I knew there was even discussion about it was reddit. So I joined r/hololive and that's where I stayed for most of the ride. I started to realize very early on reddit wasn't the most interesting place. Most of it was fanart from twitter and unfunny memes, and most of the good OCs ended up on twitter anyway. My routine for a while was watching Suisei and Korone streams, watching translated clips, and checking reddit to see if there was any good content. The first time I found out about the Vtuber discussion on 4chan was during the holocaust and someone containment breached and linked the Paint It Black video below a reddit post.
At that time I never used 4chan. The closest I've gotten to here at that point was being linked to interesting /a/ threads or checking /t/ once in a while. I'm sure you'd still call me a newfaggot
Didn't take long for me to find the board those posts came from (googling "4chan Hololive" does wonders) and ended up lurking on /hlg/. Didn't feel comfortable enough to post until after the split, felt like a new beginning of sorts where I could easily jump in.
While this site's contrarianism is annoying and having to constantly deal with schizos, bait, and doxxing is draining, this place finally satisfied the craving I had ever since I got into hololive; dynamic discussion. The incidents and events on the threads being just as memorable and interesting as streams have me addicted to this place.

I had a rough time thanks to school so I quarantined myself even before covid started, watched some YouTube and saw a Korone video, it was very cute but I wasn't into that until I met Polka, her debut was adorable and her energy made me feel really happy, thanks to her I started to feel inspired to do stuff for her, she wouldn't want me to be sad and dead, I started going outside a bit (in my garden because you know, chink-19) and feel positive about stuff I already felt I wouldn't be able to fix it.

I've been in /a/ since 2012, then I got into vtubers thanks to the youtube algorithm a little before HoloJP Gen4 debut. Mostly watched Coco, Korone, Suisei and Kanata back then.
But I only went to /hlg/ when Gen5 was going to debut, the internet in general was quite hyped about them and I wanted somewhere to talk about the new choobas.

Apparently word got out about /vt/'s existence to a lot of holo communities including twitter (Risu), reddit, social media groups, discord fanbases, etc. As for getting into the Holo fandom, clippers made hololive girls more accessible and understandable to the english-speaking world

/vt/? saw the board announcement. the rabbit hole that is watching them in general? I dunno man I dabbled here and there years ago when they were first becoming popular with ai, luna, akari etc. but I fell off and didn't pay it much mind during the rise of nijisanji/hololive. sometime last april or so I was on /v/ talking about god knows what and somebody recommended pikamee, and I got hooked pretty fast. Honestly I still haven't branched out much past VOMS (RIP magnet) but I've liked some of the other streams (or VOMS collabs) I've seen here and there. I had a short stint where I was keeping up with gura as well just because she was everywhere, but honestly from what little I saw of holoEN I kinda preferred Ina.

I don't like idols. I don't even like watching streams or streamers. What the fuck have vtubers done to me.

Went from /pol/ to /v/ in 2020 and realized Gura just makes them seethe like no other. Checked her out, didn't really care because it was mostly minecraft but understood the appeal. Then the new board announcement came and I looked into other vtubers and haven't left /vt/ since.

I was looking for a specific cover of Magnet. Saw Rushia and Marine's cover and thought, huh, what's that. After that a Suisei Psychopath video got recommended to me and the rest is history.

But that's still new tho. Hell I would say I'm still a newfag since I only started watching in October after HoloEN already debuted. Missed out on a bunch of /jp/ threads from before the hlg-hlgg split.

I usually post in /jp/'s idol threads ever since 2015 starting with ylmlm (not saying which one) and people kept on posting those vtuber threads which I hated at first but eventually checked out after hololive did a collab with world of warships and now im here.

I have been lurking /b, /pol, /mlp 8 to 5 years ago. After that thanks to IRL stuff forgot about this place. Then year ago got into Vtubers and when Aloe drama happened I knew where to find the answers. I have been back since then.
