Gonna be honest, as much as I love Prism, I sometimes can't help but wonder why girls join these small agencies for any reason other than to build a resume. The gen 3 girls are great but they all kinda scream hololive reject, and I hardly see Prism or Tsunderia or Kawaii or Phase being anyone's first choice.
After seeing what happened with Ria and now potentially Hana, it kinda sucks having to acknowledge that these small agencies only just exist as stepping stones, and that the girls are all looking to dip at the earliest opportunity.

Hololive especially seems like a pain in the ass and I would legitimately refuse to join unless they gave me great terms.
Niji I'd be more inclined toward due to freedoms and the JP branch being more open to having a life/job outside of streaming. But it still has lots of requirements and pressure especially with the large numbers.

That said, I think it's okay that PRISM and similar start as a stepping stone company, because once they get big they will not be that anymore. The trick is getting from small to big and that's all down to how they source, recruit, and treat their talents. There are very real downsides to going to HoloEN that some may not be willing to take on. Some talents may prefer the smaller company that gives them lots of room to grow with much less pressure.

If you look at it like this, and if the rumors of Hana turn out to be true, this is nothing but a good thing. Talents from these smaller agencies getting called up to the "big leagues" if you will is a massive benefit to everybody in the long run. There's still assets (music, art/promo art, overlays, transitions, mascots, animations for BRB/Starting/Ending screens, etc) and new member stipend/salaries to consider as most EN companies seem to do this aside from the smaller (poorer) ones. A well-made vtuber from a moderately popular artist you're easily looking at probably 12k+. In my experience a lot of the more professional artists charge much more for corporate vtubers as well due to things like copyright transfer not being optional.
