Honk should turn nasfaq into an incremental game!
Once you completed the share-trading part of the game(9999 of every coins) you unlock a new feature to increase your money even more in a different /biz/ related way.

That's the point, we should try to brainstorm ideas to turn this into a multi-level game so it doesn't fall back into a stupid meta of always buy/never sell
By turning the game into an incremental game the value of money would increase because gaining money in multiple ways would increase your power in other areas.
If Doomposter anon is right, december will be the time when everyone in the top 100 has enough cash from divvies to buy non-stop. Increasing the number of coins is not a valid way of increasing the lifetime of the game (it just pushes the deadline further but also becomes less effective for every new coin)

I'm top 20 as well. I don't think a reset or seasonal gameplay would fix anything. Almost all of us in the top, especially those of us that autismo since day 0, will quit the game on the spot. However, whoever takes over the leaderboards next will still be almost static. The thing is, those of us who get into the top and maintain it have a solid idea on how to play the game. Changing the algos and stuff won't really change much. Those who hit the top 5 and maintain it are there partially because of rapidly understanding how the algo works to a degree. If you change it they'll just relearn it and the developers will have their own habits so it won't take much to pick up the new one. What will happen is almost the exact same 5 people will secure the leaderboard each "season". There will be some variance from luck and people quitting but for the most part it'll be the same people. Unless, you know, everyone just keeps quitting each cycle.

People good at the game will always win the game.

Mega coins would be a coin that you buy to avoid hitting the technical limit.
Constant price(let's say 1 billion cash per coin or something like that), you pick your oshi and can display your mega coins in a veteran oshiboard and next to your name.

TL;DR : prestige coin that cost a lot of cash to avoid hitting the integer limit. (which shouldn't happen unless honk fucks up the whole "features" idea)

>recover from burn outs
That's not how this sort of thing works. When players quit this sort of game, especially from something like a reset, they won't come back. Player retention doesn't work like that and the % that does come back is very tiny.

Those who don't get burnt out will just keep the board everytime so nothing changes except that game now has a mechanic that kills off the playerbase.

This isn't some fps or something. The very concept of player retention and behaviour, attitude and shit towards the game are very very different. The goal of seasons in those sort of games is fundamentally the idea of games as a service. People have lives and come and go so they work off that people will come to play the game, spend some money cause they are retarded and then go to go play some new things. They then do a "season" aka an update with new content to get players back in for a bit before they leave. Really, seasons are literally just a marketing term for a big content update.

The very idea of seasons won't work with nasfaq. Once someone leaves nasfaq, they simply won't come back. They'll have already got the satisfaction from it in their head and won't feel any desire to come back. The other anon is right and that with working towards something with the idea that it'll be reset won't work here. Most people will just seethe and quit and only the casual players will remain because the game does require a lot of time, effort and dedication until you reach a certain money value.

>> No.8211633

There should be random events in this game imo. Things that drastically reduce the coins in circulation and keep players (and especially top players) on their toes. Just so people can't sit on their assets and collect divs while buying 24/7 indefinitely.

This sounds incredibly unique but also kinda RNG retarded. But I see what you're trying to get from here: trying to make buying a coin feel like commitment.
In the actual stock market, actually buying some stock feels very risky, as the wrong move can punish you hard. This gives a feeling of risk, but high reward when you get a positive transaction. In NASFAQ? I think that the very simple patterns in tandem with expected price changes at a certain time kind gives low risk high reward.
As stupid as it may sound, honk add the ability to buy multiple coins at once. Maybe then can we see similar chart patterns compared to the real life stock market? This could actually make day-trading more viable and much more rewarding while also being more risky.

When you think about it, nasfaq is not really some afk game. When you play seriously, you have to do your reps, make your own sheets, and analyze numbers on your own. The people who don't have time to do this are left in the dust and often end up quitting. Bad players lose as they should.

The problem comes at top where everyone is neck and neck, doing almost the exact same plays because those they're all looking at the same numbers and the same twitter feeds. This is where players who started playing early have a virtually unbeatable advantage. The only way for those older players to lose is for them to quit doing their reps and basically quit playing the game but even then they still earn quite a bit of money from divvies.

Success in nasfaq is timegated but that's not really a bad thing. The bad thing is that there's no way to lose if you just continue playing. There's no real way to lose money unless you voluntarily throw it away. The game is predictable but that's not a bad thing either. There just needs to be more things to predict. More variables. Regular events that bog specific coins based on new statistics. Bog a coin if they do a yab. No clue how you would do that but it's an idea. Maybe when a certain amount of tweets mentioning the holo contain the word "yab". Let's add more variables to the mix.

Honk where are the dips, need to stress test the CLI trader

>> No.8212011

I think devchama need to implement something of a bailout system for coins that are expected to adjust down/lose money down to the negatives. This will force everyone to trade their coins more actively. Dips need to be so harsh that the coin gets negative value and you have to invest again to push it back to a positive value, kind of like what happened to the game before the great reset but instead of getting paid for buying negative valued coins, you have to buy them. This will definitely erase a fuckton of money from the system and slow down inflation

For some reasons honk thought it was a good idea to store everything in 32bit signed variables (which caused the negative number glitch that was talked about a couple of months ago)
2,147,483,647 is the limit of a signed 32bit variable, after this there are some tricks to make "bigger" numbers but you'll lose accuracy. (Which you really don't want to lose in this game)
Mega coin would switch the problem from one variable to multiple variable. The server wouldn't need to deal with 2 billion cash (because it would be spent on mega coins) and we wouldn't need to deal with the leaderboard using exponent to show how much a player is worth (unless you really want to see 10^53 next to your name in 6 months)
If a mega coin cost 1b then capping a mega coin would cost 2,147,483,647,000,000,000 cash.

or Honk could just switch to 64bit signed and add 9,223,372,034,707,292,160 to the limit. (but that would be less fun)

TL;DR : we gain money quickly, we are not that far off from hitting the limit. Changing the way leaderboard works by adding a new currency themed around the core of the game would delay the inevitable and not sacrifice the aesthetic aspect of the game.

That's kind of why I suggested multi-buying a coin. Theoretically, this would give similar volatile graphs comparable to the actual stock market, which has a high learning curve of recognizing bull and bear patterns, which would also make daytrading much more high risk high reward instead of autobuy 100 of a coin and AFK.

There needs to be a feeling of commitment when you buy a coin. That feeling of risk and the constant anxiety that a coin can just instantly dip, similar to the real stock market.

I'd love to have some sort of beta to test multicoin buying and see how the meta develops.

"Success" (or performance) in this game is actually not defined directly by monetary value, but by growth rate. Everyone makes more money, the question is how fast you make it in comparison to others, which is dependend on not inly the correct trades, but the right trades at the right time, and tons of foresight and game feel. or just being a lucky cunt and buying hags you like in bulk because you can right now and it turns out to be a money maker

CARGO AND WAREHOUSES !
You can buy a warehouse to store your cargo with a limit depending on your warehouse's size.
And sell them later for a much bigger profit than coins but requiring more active gameplay.
Cargo would be obtained by using a second gacha which cost a lot more but doesn't drop items.
Some cargo give set bonus if you store enough of them. Example : if you own nuts and nutcrackers you could sell them for an increase price in a 2-in-1 deal because they are part of the nuts-set.

IRySes debuff is that she's a vsinger and not a mainline gen member, EN2 is gonna be different.
Although honestly I'm not completely sure if EN2 will reach EN1 numbers, I feel like the hype of EN1 being the first EN gen is the reason EN1 got so popular in the first place.

Ayame has literally spent months streaming once every month or so and making EACH and EVERY stream overlap with some kind of major, important stream by a colleague, before disappearing again, to the point it became a meme.

When she was invited or otherwise called on to participate in things, she would lie over and over(often using the same excuse multiple times) for why she can't, like not having internet, despite us knowing her LoL account and seeing her hours increasing rapidly(ergo, she's lying to her fans, and her co-workers). And she's playing with her boyfriend, and is in fact in a relationship with him openly on her roommate despite trying to hide it from her paypigs

Ayame has repeatedly shown that she doesn't care about this job, doesn't care about the majority of her co-workers, and doesn't care about her fans. Ayame is coasting on her voice and design, on clips, instead of streams.
An idol is supposed to be genuine, honest, warm, hard-working, feminine, and kind. Ayame is none of those. She doesn't deserve any of those in return.

Currently it's guaranteed that function that does trades and the function that fetches wallet every 10 minutes never run at the same time, it's also guaranteed that at the time when the function that fetches wallet is called, at least 2 seconds passed since last time sellCoin/buyCoin APIs were called.

GOOD MOOOOOOOORNING /nasfaqg/! Just wanted to remind you that today is the day that Suicoin (yes, THE Suicoin from nasfaq.biz/market) gets 3k in dividends. Make sure to save your tears for the upcoming dividend paymentswhen Suicoin walks into the spotlight!

>H-HAH! THE INVESTIGATORS ARE RIGHT! SUICOIN WILL NEVER WIN. KEKYOMIS FOREVER BTFO!!!! “No!”

Hate to disappoint you discord haatons, but the results are are random and can be re-rolled at any time! And while you continue to praise honk, need I remind you that they are nothing but discord haatons that will capitulate if their oshi starts streaming? Moona's dividends not only proved that the market makes no sense, but also confirmed that no shitcoin is too low for nasfaq! But feel free to continue your denial. Your tears of disappointment will be all the more sweeter!

>ahh the transaction, transaction. you know the transaction? the nooo one. i always, i always place the, the transaction. history transaction and without transaction. i always make the history and without transaction. transaction! i like transaction, yeah. i always, i always reverse the, the reverse- reverse transaction. ahh how can i explain? i can explain by my spreadsheet! i always place like the transaction that it has confirmation on here, this part, the server response. response of websocket. and then, i place- wh- when i place the next transaction, the transac- it always have a reversal on t- on the response, but i pick up these... away! cause i detect it. and then i redo the transaction. okay? you understand? understandable! reversal! yes.

>>8212729
>>8115536

About transaction reversals (I think "dupe" is a misnomer)
So i've sifted through the logs and found a chain of transactions that can hopefully illustrate what I suspect causes the issue, i've opted to format it in a spreadsheet since the actual log, even if trimmed is way too long for an image.

TL;DR: the TX (transaction) history is unreliable, and transactions can be "reversed" by the server, hopefully this helps people write autotraders that donít bog the server / devs to fix the issue

How to read picrel, Iíll link it to my conclusion in a separate post, feel free to read that first (5k post limit):
Timestamps trimmed to the last 4 digits
PrevBal is calculated from Price and Balance
Time(Tx) is the transaction timestamp
Time(Wallet) is the cooldown timestamp on the wallet returned in the CFM packet
txTime is the time difference between the 2 timestamps

An excerpt of the wallet from the CFM pkt is shown, with each coin's timestamp and amt in the packet
A green entry represents a successful TX
Red represents reversed data
Yellow represents a TX that was CFM'd by the server, but ultimately reversed down the line

The other colors in Bal and Timestamp exist to highlight identical values for reference later

The transactions:
The first and last (nana and calliope) exist to show a before and after
As established before, Time(Tx) (Tx receipt time) should be always earlier than Time(Wallet) (Tx confirmation time)
In a valid ledger, the prevbal will always equal the balance of the previous transaction
For most normal transactions, the Time(Wallet) of the previous TX should always be earlier than the Time(TX) of the current transaction. Reversals tend to happen when this isn't the case.

The moona, fauna, and kronii transactions have Time(Tx)s BEFORE the choco Time(Wallet), those transactions essentially didn't happen, call it reversed, ghosted, whatever
When the sana TX is done, it basically only applied the sana TX to whatever was on the choco TX, as evidenced by the 9755 correctly being brought over from the choco transaction. Also as a result of using the choco TX's base numbers, the reversed transactions didn't happen, as evidenced by the fact that the yellow timestamps are never to be seen again (until a completely separate request was sent to correct for this, the separate request also has a new timestamp)

--Continued--
Nomenclature and shorthands: (Refer to data from previous post)
Events:
ACK, the server acknowledges the receipt of the request via websocket, (NOT the http200 / success:true), this is sent even if the coin is on cooldown, it's what triggers the "pending" popup on the webclient
CFM, the server confirms the transaction, and sends back an updated wallet, a separate broadcast to the public ledger is made, that broadcast is what shows up on the history list, this event causes the "confirmed" popup on the webclient

Others:
TX, transaction, any buy or sell
REV/Reversal, not an actual event, but happens when the server sends the CFM packet, but further TXs down the ledger don't reflect the changes of the CFM packet, be it cooldown, balance, or coin amt. It is as if the TX didn't happen, bar the leftover history generated.

What causes the reversals?
Server side: Race conditions, high server load
Client side: Network congestion

Race conditions:
My speculation is the server isn't correctly queueing incoming transactions, so when a new tx arrives while one is already processing, a new thread is created, outdated data is read and processed, essentially creating 2 versions of the wallet, thus when the data is written, only 1 copy stays and any changes made to the other copies are essentially lost

High server load:
>when a new tx arrives while one is already processing
This window increases as the server load increases. There's a time difference between the tx timestamp and the actual coin's cooldown timestamp (~10, up to to 100+ during high loads), perhaps the tx timestamp is made when the server gets the tx, supported by the fact is returned in the ACK packet and the same TX timestamp is reflected in the CFM packet. The coin's timestamp is calculated later, when the checks are done and the server is about to write to disk (and subsequently sent back in the CFM packet). I believe the time difference between the TX and coin timestamps are indicative of server load, and is shown in the TXTIME column. The takeaway is this makes the aforementioned race conditions more likely to happen.

Network congestion:
Networks aren't reliable, and will tend to buffer connections, especially on shoddy wireless networks. The takeaway is that there is no point attempting to fix this issue clientside, since any network congestion will cause the packets to bunch up, arrive out of order etc.

Implications?
Anyone that bogs the server will negatively affect those using autotraders that don't detect reversals.
Just because you sent the trade, the server confirmed it and you can see the new coins/balance, it does NOT mean it actually went through. Double check using a future transaction, and keep in mind any attempts to apply a ledger to a local wallet will eventually go out of sync.

Ideally this is fixed serverside, but without knowing how the server currently works I can't tell how much work would be required, and none are straightforward enough to explain in a 4chan post.

On the client's end, solutions DO exist, I suspect the people who repeatedly sent invalid transactions used it as a way to counter reversals, or repeatedly fetching the wallet to ensure things went through.
Ideal solutions that don't require this DO exist, although getting CFM packets at the same time / out of order, causes the client to run into the same problems the server does. Solvable, but once again not going to fit in a 4chan post.

Quick fixes?
Sever+Client side? Allow clients to batch up multiple buy/sell requests in 1 api call, no multithread = no race condition

Client side? Don't shit up the server, it makes the problem worse for everyone else. The focus should be on detecting reversed transactions, not sending requests until it works.

Rope inducing fixes (its jork, but i'm surprised itís not been brought up yet)?
User spam score:
Start at -1000, clamp between -1000 and +10, resettable via captcha on webui
Every invalid tx increases the score by 1, every valid tx reduces it by 10
when score > 0 fine the user (score*coinprice) for the invalid transaction, and require a captcha via webui at +10
Display this score on the top bar
A money sink that penalizes users that somehow generate 10x invalid transactions than valid ones.
