Personally, I'm just not that into Gen 2. All of Hololive feels so distant from their fandoms and Gen 2 is the same way. Unless you're an artist with over 100k Followers, you're never going to have them reply to you on twitter and lesser known artists will just get ignored entirely. This is wrong. The JP girls made the audience. Mainly Pekora, Miko, and Coco at the time. The EOPs all thought they found something niche and wonderful, so when an EN branch was formed they all gained shit loads of subs before debut.

I won't call them boring as I watch a couple of them and respect the others, but they didn't 'create the audience' - certainly not on merit - and the fact that people with 1.6m subs struggle to break 10K views while Elira and Selen comfortably get 2-4K with 16x less subs certainly paints a picture that a lot of people in the west are subscribing to the Hololive brand but aren't watching. This is especially true when Pekora consistently mogs Gura despite having 2mil less subs.

All of Niji and Holo have their core audiences that'll remain there when the dust settles. How they got there is irrelevant. The difference is that Niji are slowly growing with their lower sub count whilst Holo get a huge boom at the start and then falter as time goes on.

This myth has been disproven time and time again. Pekora beats Gura on live views since her viewers are mostly all in a single time zone, but Gura usually gets far more VOD views than Pekora does as her fanbase get to her content throughout the day.

Obviously a chuuba with 3m subs isn't going to get 30x the viewers of one with 100k subs for regular streams, but turnout for events like outfit reveals and stuff shows that it's not just a huge pile of deadsubs like some want to believe.

That said, Pekora and Gura are both very successful vtubers among the top of the field and I wouldn't call either of them a failure by any metric.
