How important do you viewers (and chuubas, I guess) think overlays, backgrounds, and transitions are?

I currently have a slightly themed background wallpaper, and distinct areas for each of the chat box/sub goal/model; but they're not outlined as some chuubas have them. Should I set up boxes on screen for 'chat', 'new follower', 'new sub', and so forth, or is that all too much effort? Does it make any difference as to whether you keep watching?

Not really that important at all. If you can spend 100 bucks on a set of overlays or put that 100 toward an XLR mic+audio interface, go audio every, single, time. There are plenty of generic free overlay sets all over vtuber twitter, those will do the trick just fine.

Mm, yeah, I have chat overlaid on screen, but on a 2 minute disappear (I'm still a small streamer, so it'll often not be there); and I have a pop-up for new follower/bits/sub/raid, but then all go again.

So BreakfastPurrito as an example has a chat box, then most recent follow/subscriber/total subscribers, and a shadow box underlay for the screen.

Having everything look right to you is important of course, but don't try to rationalize it by thinking your viewerbase cares much about your overlays, they don't. I would set a short term vtubing goal, and when you meet that goal treat yourself by commissioning a set of overlays to your specs.

I did a collab over the weekend, and she had a custom overlay, and looked all set-up nicely, whereas mine looked... uh... less so.

I figure once i get the first twitch payout (currently have $60 sitting in it), I'll upgrade something - my potato can't handle L2D yet, so better mic than a headset, overlays, or something like that. I've got emotes all sorted for now.

Wanted to get an input check on an idea I'd been working on for a while, thought I'd ask here to see if viewers/chuubas liked or hated the thought of it. might do it as birthday stream, but that seems a bit sixteen-year old of me

Do a CK2 collab, on a shattered world. Everyone tribal, random cultures, religions, holdings, and bloodlines; but maybe not Kingdom/Empire level titles. I've got all the DLC, so I can host, and no other streamer would need to pay anything, just get the free download.

Game could either be a race to Emperor, or a race to form HRE/ERE, or some other tangible goal. No real reward for winning, but it sets something people can push for, rather than just aimlessly playing for 24 hours

Voice chat would be a nightmare, so I figured maybe keep that off, but that loses some of the bonus of a collab. OTOH, you can get games with ~30 people, which would be shit for a VC.

Saruei is... not doing anything today. A well deserved rest day after a hectic first week.

Tomorrow she starts LA Noire, and she did get a heart rate monitor for the Outlast stream, and she's terrible with scary games so that will be a great stream.

Those are channel points, the streamer can change the name of the channel points (Bones, Scrap, Honeydrops, Candy, etc) but they're their own thing. THe streamer receives no money for them ,they're just something the streamer can use for interactive redeems, or for literally nothing.

I've seen streamers who just have large point value redeems that do nothing so a viewer can flex how long they've been around. Some people freestyle rap, some sing a song, do a voice, something they interact with the streamer's model etc. I don't care for the disruptive redeems, but it's a neat option for interactivity.
