Apex are basically one type of stream: shooting.
While Minecraft can be used for different types of streams: zatsudan, pixel art, adventure, etc.

Even scrub tier play and ratting out wins/top3s etc creates a good storyline for a stream. For all it's problems Apex nailed "make it moment to moment interesting" in a way that content creators can work with, which other battle royales never achieved.

It's a free game so people can try it out and relate to the concepts, but also it's an FPS so moment to moment it's trivial to understand (shoot enemy until dead). Has a nice injection of colour without being off-putting and childish like e.g. Fortnite.

So it's basically as easy to follow conceptually as Minecraft, giving the streamer space to chat and chill while playing and collabing, but not being tedious to stream like Minecraft for the streamer.

I like Apex collabs because it makes pairs or trios that usually may not talk, talk a lot. Thanks to Shibuhal a lot of my favorite vtubers have become closer friends with people they wouldn't usually talk to. Cross company, in company, etc.
He's doing a lot of hard work to give vtubers a place to all play together, make connections, and have fun in a non-super competitive tournament

not him but while not favorite, there are other games that chuubas could play like RTS (starcraft, age of empires, would be cool to see someone play the dune RTS), turn based strategy like some paradox games (hearts of iron, crusader kings, maybe even something like chess or any other kind of turn based strategy). also there are other good genres like action, they could play dark souls/demon souls/Nioh/sekiro and while not a souls type game, something like ghost of tsushima would be neat to watch. watching them play Apex over and over and over again gets old.

my problem is not the game, but what it does to most chubas
if they show any sign of being good they get boosted and then you have at first a weekly apex stream, then 2 apex stream, then 3 apex stream. then they take it seriously to practice for torutnaments and at this point you are only known for being an apex streamer. it set this expectation of what people want from you is apex only and most apex watchers dont even bother with the rest of content so it encourage them to stream only that.
can the stream still be good? yeah of course but it radically changes a channel content is not even funny.
