The appeal of pro wrestling is taking the sports format and combining it with narratives that have clearly defined good and bad guys. Knowing it's fake or not is irrelevant, it's an angle for storytelling in a heightened reality. The appeal of vtubers is both the facade and the actor underneath it, the performance is entertaining and so is the character, but the staying power comes from the intrigue of the performer under the character, to the point that I'd argue beyond hooking the viewer the facade doesn't really matter at all, it's a shortcut to investment in the performer.

And going by supechats is kind of a weird statistic because the format attracts the whales and it's their primary income. Wrestling is entirely scripted, they're basically a combination of athletes and actors. Vtubers are just regular streamers with an anime avatar.
