I think it will happen given time, especially if they get out there more into the vtuber community and start collabing regularly with others more. When I think about Holostars currently the only member I think most people who aren't fans already might have some exposure to is Roberu.

And just remember that Hololive the main branch was around for multiple years before it ever took off like it did. There is no good reason to expect Holostars who have been around far less time to match that rate of growth especially when Hololive was very slow for most of the members initially.

The fundamental issue with holostars and 95% of male chuubas in general is they're trying to be hot e-boys, which mostly turns off the (majority) male audience and pigeon-holes them into the relatively tiny fujo/gay market. Even straight women mostly aren't interested in simping to the degree men do over female streamers. If a male chuuba wants to be successful he needs to follow in the footsteps of successful male IRL e-celebs and just be funny/friendly. Be KSI, not CDawg; channel Konosuba, not Black Butler.

Sorry, but I really don't think there is gonna be a huge audience. Especially in the west. Think about it this way:

Who are female vtubers competing with? Essentially their competition is slutty, unfunny, vapid twitch thots. Most of the female made content on youtube is either streams that appeal to horny/pathetic men. Or its something like a makeup review which is clearly targeted at women. There is a clear lack of content from funny, cute, pure girls in the west. And in a way, female vtubers fill that desire.

Now think about male vtubers. I'm sure a lot of them are funny. The things that you described ITT sound like fun streams. But you gotta keep in mind that there are so so many male youtubers/streamers. There's no need in the market, in fact its almost oversaturated with content. Also, there is no reason for male streamers to hide behind an avatar if they are streaming for straight dudes. I've seen some really ugly youtubers get a huge following.

There’s a few other reasons I didn’t include in my original post.
Another reason I think holostars won’t be super popular is that the same rules from hololive apply to them. Like for instance they are expected to stay at least a little seiso. This expectation works for the girls because it makes them so much better than the whore ethots on twitch. However for guys this expectation is a huge hinderance, as there are a lot more jokes that they can’t make compared to other streamers.
Another big reason they won’t take off is because there is a massive amount of competition in the male vtuber space. There are a lot of dudes who watch vtubers and think “hmmm I can do that, I have a vr headset/know how to use facetracking”. Girls just don’t know how to make a 3d model and set up all the stuff, so there isn’t this problem with women.

So overall holostars are trying to fill a demand that doesn’t exist, while cover is making their content more boring, and every weeb is trying to do the exact same thing as them.
