There were indeed a lot of awful decisions made like splitting up, trying to fight the sniper repeatedly and many more. The entire season was very weak in the beginning and it got okay until the end.

The big problem in these ttrpg is that Mori sets the scene and stops talking, then everyone is silent until Kiara cant take it anymore and starts taking the lead. When will the other girls start to take some more initiative god damnit.

Kiara is the first to speak, but she struggles setting up the other girls (not just ttrpg, but full collabs in general). It is really hit or miss, if Kiara sets up something kino or something cringe. Whenever it is something cringe everyone "hates" on Kiara, while completely ignoring the other girls not even doing anything most of the time. It is easy to focus on Kiara's bad moments, when she is in the foreground all the time because the others take a step back and play mute in the background.

Kiara's strong side is in her reactions, in her follow ups in situations and conversations. She shouldnt be the one setting them up.

Funnily enough I actually think it's the opposite, at least for this session. She did alright taking the initiative (other than talking with the dude while he was tied up) but reactionary/follow-up wise was when she did some really unnecessary things which don't really fit with how she played last session.
Keeping the sniper rifle when she has no perks for it and likely will never use just because her character art has one at the risk of unnecessary consequences; going all murdery and aggressive. Just last session she was the voice of reason to the chaos that is the rest of the group.

The things above are just the little things but yes, this one is inarguably the biggest one where it's a toss-up between kiara having genuinely zero critical thinking/self-preservation vs her attention whore-isms kicking in/excitement over combat because she said she just HAD to fight. Gura, while being extremely chaotic still has some form of self-preservation.

Yes, in the end it's supposed to be fun among friends but she is kind of making it a little bit difficult for Mori to find the right balance. Giving them a way out because they came up with something creative makes complete sense. But there's only so much blatant plot armor she can give before it feels completely contrived when she was almost inviting death. She did really well last session and found a great balance so I have no idea why she completely threw caution to the wind this time and went full idiot/attention whore (and no, this isn't an insult; this is something we all know about her and something endearing most of the time)

Man the way you guys were talking I thought she must have really fucked up the session. But apart from not ducking a sniper and knowing fuck all about bullets she did fine. Ame nearly ruined the encounter, much as I love Watoto she stuck her hand in fire and kept doing it after Kiara successfully started combat. Mori probably would have let them succeed with any hit on the second dog. Though I think Mori should not have given new players such a convoluted encounter with a junk pile becoming a magical hedge maze. It did fall into you succeed in trying to figure things out but you can't do shit railroading a little too often.

I was bothered by it too but after sleeping on it I stopped really caring about that part. The session got a lot better when they met up again anyway. People wanted Kiara to do what they would've done (which was to just use basic fucking logic) but in the end this is their session and they're not bound by such lofty constraints like common sense. I think the main problem with it is if kiara continues down this path of making potentially lethal non-logical decisions that aren't made because it's in character but just because she's being an idiot, it could be to the detriment of Mori's GM-ing. I don't envy her because if this continues, the blatant plot armor she's forced to give as a result of such decisions would go beyond the realm of reasonable even for a campaign that's supposed to be less rule-focused. At least Ame's life-threatening decisions she made was wholly in line with watoto's character, so that was completely fine.

That being said, aside from that and interrupting the GM, she had some good moments i.e. the walkie-talkie; choosing not to meta-game is a good sign.

My hope is that Mori finds a way to give them pointers; i'm sure she has, but i have a feeling she probably didn't go hard or clear enough on it for fear of putting too much pressure on the girls since she loves ttrpgs and really wants them to enjoy it too. Yeah, don't envy the tightrope she has to walk on.

I have hope kiara and the rest of them will improve without putting undue stress on themselves but like you said, gonna keep my expectations a bit lower. Was just a bit of whiplash considering how well she played last session.

There's a much simpler explanation: Mori has never corrected Kiara about using video game-logic, so she thinks with that mindset. In general, to me it seems that Mori cares about the roleplaying aspect of TTRPGs, but not the game aspect and that's what's biting her in the ass when she realizes that according to the ruleset Tiara's intestines should have exploded from her body from the sniper shot and she has to salvage the situation. Ironically enough, because of Mori basically ignoring merits, perks, willpower, general game balance and such, Mori might just let Kiara roll with the sniper rifle, not to mention the factor of rule of cool.

Yeah I'll take it as an insult. Interrupting others, while may be rude and that's something I'll give to you, is not the same as vying for attention to the expense of others. Anyway, I hope she'll bring up the TTRPG session during today's Skyward Sword stream and we can hear her opinions about it.
