Dislike count isn't real and is typically an overestimation, not underestimation, but saying it's meaningless or completely made up is even dumber and fucking dishonest. It's based on complex algorithm and a lot of actual data. Trying to focus onspecific number is retarded but if dislike extensions showsavideo has a lot of dislikes... it is an absolute fact that it has a lot of dislikes. The real number might be half of what is shown, it may be 40% higher than what is shown but difference won't go into realms of tenfold or such.
Dislike extension is definitely good enough for judging trends of whether video is received well or not.

Their dislike count number is they take the like to dislike ratio of users who have the extension installed, and then multiply it by the amount of likes on the video.

Example: 5 people with the extension view the video. 1 likes it, 3 dislike it. Public like count is 10,000 likes. The extension will show 30,000 dislikes. If of those 5 people 1 person liked it and 2 disliked it, the extension will show 20,000 dislikes. If 2 people liked it and 2 people disliked it it will show 10,000 dislikes.
It's a complete fairy dust circle jerk, and anyone who thinks it is real has been gaslighted.
